Help Prevent Flooding This Fall: Clean Your Storm Drains

The sun is still shining, but the leaves are falling. Help out your neighborhood by checking the storm drains near your home.

Here’s how to do it safely:

🍂 Remove leaves and debris along the curbs within 10 feet of the drain.

🙌 Wear gloves to protect your hands, but use a shovel or rake to move leaves.

🍁 Never lift a storm drain grate.

🍃 Stay alert! Look out for vehicles, and wear bright colors to be seen.

Leaves, grass, and other vegetation can be bagged and placed in a yard waste container.

Contact Clean Water Services at 503-547-8100 if your storm drain is still clogged after you cleaned it.

New Rock Creek Bridge Opens on Cornelius Pass Road

The new Rock Creek Bridge has opened on NW Cornelius Pass Road about three miles north of the junction with U.S. 26 north of Hillsboro.

The bridge and Cornelius Pass Road have reopened to traffic, but please watch out for crews who are finishing the bridge replacement project over the next few weeks.

The bridge, located about 0.7 mile north of the intersection with NW Germantown Road, replaced a functionally obsolete structure built in 1946. The new bridge is a single span structure with two vehicle lanes and wide shoulders.

The project is part of the transfer of jurisdiction from Washington County to ODOT of NW Cornelius Pass Road, which is now OR 127. Once completed, the bridge will be transferred to ODOT for all future maintenance.

Cascadia High-Speed Rail & I-5 Planning Share Your Voice

Washington State Department of Transportation is kicking off long‑term planning for both the I‑5 Master Plan and the Cascadia High‑Speed Rail Service Development Plan.

These efforts will shape everything from daily travel reliability to the long‑term transportation options our growing region depends on.

Your feedback will help guide early decisions about safer, more reliable travel on I‑5 and inform what future high‑speed rail could look like. Community voices are essential at this stage, before planning moves further.

This is a rare opportunity to influence major transportation investments that will affect how we move for decades to come.
