Greetings From Mr. Estes...

Dear SASEAS Families,

If your evening involves a conversation about Fr Ed presiding at the Seton Campus mass today in his bare feet, it’s true. I must admit it was a very effective way to get everyone’s attention and then talk about the importance of trusting God to provide what we truly NEED throughout our lives. I am extremely grateful to all of our priests for actively, and creatively at times, engaging our students at mass each week; I encourage you to join us when you are able.

Beginning a school year and adjusting to a more consistent schedule can be challenging each year and we have been navigating particularly unique challenges this year due to reopening our St Andrew campus but it does seem like we have found our groove and have settled into the routines that help contribute to student success. I want to thank you for your support in this process. As I have previously mentioned, a collaborative relationship between educators and families is critical to creating an optimal learning experience. Please be diligent about seeking out information made available by our faculty and staff through our various communication channels and communicating anything that you feel the school should know as needed.

I want to remind everyone about our Seton campus Meet the Teacher event tomorrow evening. Additionally,  our fall picture day is this Friday, September 25; students do need to be IN UNIFORM. Picture forms were sent home with students earlier this year. Please see the reminders section for details for these and other upcoming events

Make it a great week!

Preschool News

We are very blessed this week. Mrs. Rosanne Fels is taking our preschool classes on tours of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. The children will learn all about the pictures and statues in the church, the special red candle that is always burning, the organ and choir, and holy water. They will learn that God’s house is a lot like our own houses. We are thankful for Mrs. Fels and the time she takes showing our preschool classes around our church.

SASEAS Preschool is having a very busy week! For the next two weeks the 3-year-old classes are learning all about apples. In science they will review the apple lifecycle and dissect an apple to see the seeds. They are sorting red, yellow, and green “apple” pom poms into size and color groups. In religion our three-year-olds are learning the sign of the cross.

If you are walking past the four and five-year-old preschool classrooms this week and you hear parrots squawking, gold coins jingling, and some hearty “Arrghs”, you will know that it is “Pirate Week” for our older preschoolers.

Our four-year-olds are having a swashbuckling good time digging for buried treasure in the sensory table, making spy glasses and treasure chests in art, and participating in pirate themed Math and Writing centers.

Our five-year-old class is learning about the letter “X” because “X marks the spot” on the treasure map. They are counting gold coins in math and subtracting or adding to their pirate chest. Their goal in science is to build a pirate ship out of Legos and test whether it will float or sink.

All the 4 and 5-year-olds will have a “Dress Like a Pirate Day!”

Have a blessed week!

Mrs. Aimee
