YES, today on this day, 15-years ago Ron and I started Almaden Yoga. The idea was a space to teach yoga to as many people, and in return it surely has ended up being a wonderful journey.
I remember my parents being a little surprised and I have to say, not the most excited, when I told them about the studio. Their response was, "But you are not a business person. And what's wrong in working at NASA". I was like, "Ya, but I want to make a difference". They could not understand because those who work to make a difference really don't make the money ;-))
Hmmmm, they might have been right about that ;-)
The last 15-years have been amazing. A journey filled with love, joy, tears and sweat. Then came Covid where we didn't know what hit us and both Ron and I gave everything we had into making sure Almaden Yoga continues to make a difference.
As the years go by of running Almaden Yoga, my goal is to change lives, bring wellness and create a community that feels at home. I love when some of you say, "Almaden Yoga is home away from home". The other day one member said, "honey I am home". I am overwhelmed and touched beyond words when I hear so much warmth and love.
From teaching 29 classes a week, to coming across amazing instructors who walked into my life and became part of the Almaden Yoga family. We have seen our instructors go through life changing moments and Almaden Yoga has supported them through it. Today we can proudly say we have teachers from 14+ years still teaching with the same love and commitment.
From starting my Teacher training in 2016 to today where we have trained over 55 great yoga teachers and some of them teach at Almaden Yoga. They take yoga into the world and I am reminded of our tag line, "Bringing peace to the planet one class at a time".
From my first yoga retreat to India, which was such a learning lesson to taking over 10 retreats all over the world. Through these retreat, meeting beautiful people who trusted and travelled with me and continue to travel on future retreats.
And YOU.
The most important element of Almaden Yoga. I feel so proud of the fact that some of you were there first-day, first-class and continue to practice with us. Those of you who are new to the studio, may we enhance your life in every which way. And those who are considering trying classes at Almaden Yoga, all I can say is that you will love it.
Some of you left during Covid and we remember you very fondly. We hope to catch up some day.
So let 2025 be all about celebrating life, yoga, and Almaden Yoga. We will be celebrating on March 15 & 16th, 2025 with FREE classes, music, vendors, and much more. Stay tuned......
