Because Lutherans love playtime. Park & Play was an awesome event sponsored by Emanuel's Education Ministry Team at Starke Park last Saturday morning, even if it was a bit on the chilly side! Everyone who came out played hard, gobbled down Pastor Marcus' grilled burgers and hot dogs, and enjoyed meeting new friends and neighbors! We are better together.

"Discerning an Exotic Species: A Lutheran Evangelist," is a 5-week sermon series, beginning February 12th. New and familiar voices and faces from our congregation will dive deeper into our understanding of Evangelism, what the Bible teaches about being an evangelist, and how it applies to our everyday faith walk.
Led by Paul Sims, Dennis Sagebiel, and Pastor Marcus, the conversation will continue in the Family Life Center during the education hour on March 19 and 26. Come join us!

In addition to Emanuel's traditional Ash Wednesday services in the Sanctuary at both noon and 7pm, ashes will also be imposed outside on the street at noon.
For the tenth year in a row, Emanuel’s is taking Ash Wednesday to the people of Seguin with a convenient drive-thru format. “Ashes-to-Go” enables busy people to receive ashes and a blessing from clergy representing First Presbyterian, Spirit of Joy Lutheran, Friedens United Church of Christ, and Emanuel’s Lutheran Churches.
During the lunch hour on Wednesday, February 22, from noon to one, the parking spaces adjacent to Emanuel’s on Gonzales Street will be the unconventional home to an historic Christian tradition of receiving a cross of ashes at the beginning of the holy season of Lent. Pastors will greet anyone who pulls into the drive-thru lane … on foot, bicycle, or car.
Look for signs on Court Street directing traffic down Bowie Street by the Habitat Store then up Gonzales Street. Everyone is welcome!

DEVOTIONS FOR LENT
Available now in the narthex and church office
In honor of the 250th anniversary of the writing of “Amazing Grace,” these Lenten devotions by theologian Michael Hoy tie the words of the beloved song (and the history surrounding it) to our lives today and to the lives of those in the Bible who experienced the amazing grace of God revealed most profoundly in the salvation of Jesus.
Stephenie Hovland is the author of "God's Grace Is Great! - Amazing Lenten Devotions for Children." As children reflect on the words of “Amazing Grace” in this daily Lenten devotion booklet, they are reminded that God’s great grace was poured out upon us because of the sacrifice Jesus made for us on the cross. Because of Jesus Christ, we all can say that we have been saved by God’s grace. And that’s amazing! Ages 6-10.
