The Coalition of County Unions (CCU), including PPOA and 13 other member organizations, reached a tentative agreement this week on a new fringe benefits contract with the County of Los Angeles. This tentative contract impacts all active PPOA members and features the following highlights:
- $1,000 one-time bonus for full-time County employees who worked during the pandemic
- Members employed before 7/1/21 who are at “elevated” risk for COVID-19 exposure will receive an additional one-time $500 bonus. "Elevated" risk is defined as job duties requiring you to be within 6 feet or less of co-workers, patients, County clients, or the general public for periods of 15 minutes or greater
- New County-paid holiday, Juneteenth, will go into effect on June 19, 2022
- 2.5% increase in CHOICES from the County to help offset health insurance premium increases or, if applicable, provide more taxable cash back for PPOA members
This tentative agreement is for a 9-month contract (the most recent contract expired on June 30, 2021) and expires on March 31, 2022. The agreement will now go before the County Board of Supervisors and the CCU fully expects the Supervisors to approve it. PPOA will provide an update as soon as we are advised when members can expect the bonus payments associated with this contract.
PPOA is grateful to our partners in the CCU for their collaborative efforts to secure a fair and equitable contract. We are also thankful to the Board of Supervisors for acknowledging the sacrifices and heroic work ethic of PPOA members during the pandemic.
