Frenship Hosts First Annual
Big Cat Classic
Frenship history was made as the Frenship Tigers and Memorial Panthers faced off in their first district matchup against each other in the inaugural Big Cat Classic! The historic game brought together two schools, their students, and the Frenship community to celebrate school spirit, sportsmanship, and the beginning of a new tradition.
Before kickoff, Frenship ISD recognized several groups making a lasting impact on the Frenship community. The Big Cat Council was recognized for helping name the Big Cat Classic and establishing shared commitments to school spirit, respect, sportsmanship, and positive competition between our Tigers and Panthers.
The Frenship Foundation also honored some of its biggest supporters, recognizing the sponsors whose generosity helps fund Character Scholarships and Teacher Grants for Frenship students and teachers. Thanks to their continued support, the Foundation awarded $100,000 in teacher grants across all 16 campuses this fall, along with $10,000 to first-year teachers.
The evening also featured a special coin toss presentation honoring George and Linda McMahan for their longstanding support of Frenship ISD and the Frenship Foundation. Since 2004, the McMahans have supported the Foundation’s annual Drive for Leaders Golf Tournament, helping fund Character Scholarships for graduating seniors. Linda had the honor of flipping the coin to kick off the inaugural Big Cat Classic after winning the experience at last year’s Evening in Big Cat Country.
On the field, the Frenship Tigers claimed the win in the inaugural Big Cat Classic! The Tigers will keep the Big Cat Classic trophy until the two teams meet again next year, adding a new tradition to this historic rivalry.

Frenship Second Graders Celebrate the Power of Reading
Last Thursday, more than 800 second graders from all nine Frenship elementary schools gathered for the eighth annual United We Read, celebrating the power of reading and the importance of finding your voice.
This year’s featured book, Say Something! by Peter H. Reynolds, encouraged students to speak up and use their voices to make a difference. Students brought the message to life by creating their own paper megaphones, and each student received a copy of the book to take home and share with their family. A big thank-you to our volunteers and partners at Lubbock Area United Way for helping make this special event possible!
