Let's Make Compost

Rancho Cielo, here we come! Let's learn to make compost together at Rancho Cielo's impressive garden on Saturday, March 23rd at 10am. Attendees from our service area will receive a free compost bin. Be sure to register so we know how many bins to prepare. See you there!

Trashion Show 2024

Trashion Show, that's a wrap! On February 22nd, we participated in South County's Alliance on Aging fundraiser, where participants are encouraged to make an outfit out of trash to then model on the runway at Salinas Valley Fairgrounds. Well, we took this task literally, and gathered actual trash that we found in the yard waste. Unfortunately, roughly 18,000 pounds of trash is hand-picked out of the yard waste piles every week. This dress is a reminder that trash in your yard waste container is contamination, and cannot be turned into nutrient-rich compost.

TIRE AMNESTY RETURNS APRIL 1

Bring your tires to us for FREE from April 1 through May 19, 2024! Tire Amnesty is for residents only (no businesses) with small truck and car tires for disposal, including rims. Limit 9 tires per trip. Bring them to any of our three locations - 1104 Madison Lane (Salinas), 31400 Johnson Canyon Road (Gonzales), or 52654 Jolon Road (King City). These tires will get a second life through a recycling grant from CalRecycle!

Jolon Road Transfer Station Gets a Facelift

Our Engineering team has been hard at work over the past year to give Jolon Road Transfer Station some improvements for the betterment of our customers and staff! Visitors can now enjoy a wider access road to the organics pile complete with a new concrete pad underneath. We've also added a new foundation for our team's updated break room and foundation for the garbage unloading area that now has a covered building over it! These improvements will help our Jolon staff tremendously in their daily operations, and allow better access throughout the site for our customers.
