Virtual Chapter of Women for Kansas Welcomes Retired KU Professor Jeanne Klein and a Presentation on the Kansas Suffrage Movement

Women for Kansas celebrate Women's Equality Day with a presentation by retired KU professor Jeanne Klein about the Kansas Suffrage Movement and the fight for women's voting rights in the Sunflower State. Jeanne Klein began studying Kansas suffragists in 2019. As a member of the Kansas Suffragist Memorial Committee, she provided brief biographies of 13 “Rebel Women” depicted in Phyllis Garibay-Coon’s mural now installed at the State Capitol. Her presentation on the Kansas Woman Suffragist Movement intends to inspire all Kansas citizens with a greater appreciation of their voting rights

W4K Barton County Chapter Welcomed Wendy Lockwood

Wendy Lockwood, The Center for Counseling and Consultation executive director, presented an overview of The Center and its challenges to W4K Barton County Chapter members on Sunday, August 17. Lockwood provided an overview of Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CBHC) and Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHC), a designation The Center received last year. All CCBHCs are required to provide core services regardless of ability to pay and face challenges due to federal funding uncertainty.

‘Women for Kansas’ Weigh-In on Proposed Amendment

Brayden Day, ksn.com

“Through that nominating committee...people nominated across state sometimes representing smaller communities, Wall said. “If we got into elections, it would more likely be people from larger communities where there is fundraising and the money coming in. We all have to do our part and remember, we have to remember August 2026 turn out and vote no.” Read here.

W4K Statement Opposing the Unjust Investigation into Kansas Public Schools

The leadership of Women for Kansas strongly denounces the recent investigations launched against the public school districts of Topeka, Shawnee Mission, Olathe and Kansas City, Kansas. This action not only undermines the integrity and dedication of our educators and administrators but also sends a chilling message to public school systems across the state that political agendas are being prioritized over the well-being of students.

We absolutely oppose discriminating against transgender students in the name of "women's rights." Title IX legislation advances gender equity, not mistreatment of students because of their gender identity.

Topeka Public Schools, with which we are most directly connected, has long been a model of equity, inclusion, and academic opportunity for all students — regardless of background. Rather than supporting the essential work being done to uplift and educate our youth, this investigation appears to be a politically motivated attempt to sow distrust and discredit the district’s efforts to meet the needs of a diverse student body.

We call on state officials and all parties involved to cease these harmful actions and instead focus on meaningful partnerships that support students, teachers, and families. Our public schools deserve investment and encouragement not scrutiny rooted in ideology or misinformation.

We stand with the educators, staff, and students in public schools across KS and affirm our commitment to a just and equitable education for all.
