Every time a client tells me their trade show “went okay,”
I know what’s coming.
They got foot traffic.
They had some good convos.
They collected a bunch of cards.
But 3 weeks later, no pipeline movement.
No real follow-up.
No closed business.
The reason?
They went in with a booth strategy, not a discovery strategy.
INSIGHT:
Most teams treat trade shows like marketing events.
But if you’re in field sales it’s a live selling environment.
That means you need to:
- Map your discovery flow in advance
- Customize it by vertical and buyer role
- Know what disqualifies fast
- And stop treating every conversation like a lead
Just because someone scans their badge
doesn’t mean they’re a buyer.
And just because they stop at your booth
doesn’t mean they have a problem you solve.
