The ReStore Story: Turning Everyday Finds Into Life-Changing Impact

At Habitat Forsyth ReStores, every donation, purchase, and volunteer hour creates a ripple effect that builds stronger communities. The ReStore story isn’t just about furniture, appliances, and building materials—it’s about the people behind them.

It Starts with Generous Donors

Homeowners, businesses, and remodelers donate furniture, appliances, building supplies, kitchen cabinets and more. These items might be outdated for one home but perfect for another. Every donation keeps usable materials out of landfills and turns clutter into opportunity.

Fueled by Dedicated Volunteers

Volunteers are the heartbeat of our ReStores. They sort donations, assist customers, and help ReStore staff ensure that every sale directly supports Habitat’s mission. Their time and dedication help transform simple storefronts into thriving centers of impact.

Shoppers Give Items a Second Life

From bargain hunters to DIY enthusiasts and contractors, shoppers find unique treasures at affordable prices. Each purchase isn’t just a great deal—it’s an investment in a family’s future.

Proceeds Power Habitat’s Mission

Every dollar spent at ReStore helps Habitat Forsyth build and repair homes for local families in need of safe, affordable housing. Your support turns surplus goods into hope, stability and opportunity.

Ending with Families Building a Brighter Tomorrow

Families partner with Habitat to build or improve homes, creating stability for future generations. Thanks to your donations, shopping, and volunteer efforts, these families can write a new chapter in their story of home.

Want to be part of the ReStore story? Donate, shop, or volunteer today and help build a world where everyone has a safe and affordable place to live! Visit Habitat Forsyth ReStores or go to habitatforsyth.org/restore to learn more.

Turning Rent into Roots: Tiffany's Path to Homeownership

Fed up with rising rent, Tiffany decided to calculate her annual costs and realized she could purchase and own a home for what she was paying. After joining the Habitat program in 2023, she found the financial literacy classes particularly helpful, and her daughter noticed a positive change in their spending habits.

To save for their Habitat home, they had been living with family, and her daughter excitedly planned her new pink room. Juggling a full-time job, being a mom and earning her 300 sweat equity hours for the Habitat program felt overwhelming at times, but Tiffany persevered.

“I just kept telling myself all this is for a worthy cause. I am so appreciative of the Habitat team – especially Mike, Jacquie and Paola in Family Services. They listen to us, respond to our concerns, and recommend things for us. I’m just very excited about our home and appreciative of Habitat in general.”

Honoring Leadership: George Redd Receives Social Justice Award

This Black History Month, we celebrate leaders who continue the fight for equity and justice—like our own George Redd, IV, recipient of the 2025 Ministers’ Conference of Winston Salem and Vicinity (MCWS&V) Social Justice Award.

Presented at the annual MLK Jr. service on January 19, this award recognizes individuals who lead with purpose and make a lasting impact. George’s dedication to affordable housing and strengthening our community embodies the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy.

Please join us in congratulating George on this well-deserved honor and celebrating the power of leadership and service this Black History Month!
