SEPTEMBER 1, 2026 BRUSHMARK

President's Message

Dear Members

Art has a special power to bring people together and brighten our world. Your creativity brings joy and inspiration to those around us.

Sharing your art (whether through gallery exhibits or volunteering at one of our community events, like MADD Hatters, builds a stronger, happier community. Volunteering brings joy to others and, in turn, yourself. It’s a great way to meet fellow artists and make new friends in the community.

A single painting, a piece of jewelry or a sculpture can change someone's day for the better and bring a smile to their face. Let’s step out and share our love of art with the community. Whether through a gallery show, art on the green or your volunteer service at a community event like MADD Hatters; your voice matters.

Check out all our upcoming opportunities, below, for you to share your love of art. I urge you to sign-up. And be sure and come into the gallery to enjoy the Abstract Show and reception.

Best wishes,

Susan Bell

(if necessary only). Or call Cheryl she will assist you. 760-519-1551.

  • Jewelry Cases - When hosting, if a customer wants to look more closely at an item in the jewelry cases, please carefully get it out for them and don’t let them do it on their own. Unfortunately, we have had some breakage when customers help themselves.

  • Jewelry Sales - When hosting it’s important to record detailed information about items sold from the jewelry cases so the artist knows what exactly was sold. Please include a description, the number of the item and/or tape the actual tag to the sales slip if the customer doesn’t want it. And Jewelry Cases Artists, please write your item numbers clearly for those of us with challenged eyesight.

  • Name Tags - We are working on ensuring that all of our members have Name Tag Badges to wear while hosting. Name Tags are kept in the backroom on the wood shelves. If you do not find your Name Tag there, please let us know.

  • Substitute Hosting Fee Increase - Substitute Hosts will now receive $40 for each shift that they host on behalf of a COAL member. This adjustment recognizes the value of their time and commitment while helping ensure we continue to provide reliable coverage for the gallery. Thank you to all of our Substitute Hosts for your continued support and dedication.

Publicity Chair : Do you know Instagram or can work on a computer? We need assistance in coordinating the Schedules and posting. This is a key BOD position that has risen our organization to the top in social media. presence, it is invaluable! We need to find a replacement because, we have much to post and so little help to do it, can anybody assist us? Or we will need to reconsider what we post or how often we post. it takes more time than a few people have to offer in contributing to the organization on your behalf. We need your "engagement", a simple share, a comment or a like of our posts is all we are asking you to do. So, if you do not have social media accounts, you are missing out on another opportunity lost to engage with the art community. it is time to consider getting yourselves out there! It is a benefit to you to publicize your artwork and the gallery, and it has a broader reach to places you cannot reach on your own, so it is a WIN, WIN for everyone.

Can you please contact Julie Brooks. Meanwhile, while hosting.. Text her the photos and information of any to Julie at (909) 538-6218. Remember to tag, post and share all our posts you receive. it helps build interests and the algorithms online presence. Thank you.

PLEASE SEND US YOUR NEWS

Members, WE NEED YOUR Facebook or Instagram page? To post announcements of your artworks. It is a key to today's communication and your visibility. It really is a necessary evil. Every time we want to share info. If you do not have any kind of online presence we cannot direct people to you, or back to the gallery, so think about it! Imagine, if no one knows who you are they assume you are not out there, so they look elsewhere for things. It is VERY IMPORTANT to have some form of social media, Food for thought! So if you can, will you please provide your info here. for use on our Social Media. Thank you.

Do you have news of your upcoming exhibits, awards, etc. you'd like in Brushmark? Please send all the details in a format ready to be published along with any photos to Cindy. It will be published in the next Brushmark that comes out 2 weeks after receipt of your submission.
