THE SERMON SERIES CONTINUES!
God is still speaking. Even when we aren’t listening, God is still speaking. Even when we don’t know how to listen, God is still speaking. And God speaks in many different ways. God speaks through the sacraments of baptism and communion. God speaks through God’s very Spirit. God speaks through the written word in the Bible. God speaks to us when we pray. And yes, God speaks to us through imperfect people in the Church. God is still speaking. Are you listening?

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM PASTOR GREG
Earlier this morning, I was forwarded a request that came from “me” asking for church members to e-transfer funds. The email was littered with spelling errors and came from an address that was not mine (g.impink@wayneumc.org). Those are two of the easiest ways to spot fraud: spelling errors and the message not coming from the correct email address. While I will encourage you to be generous, I’ll never ask for gift cards or some sort of secret transaction outside of regular ways of giving that are well-documented in worship services and on official church communications. When in doubt, please wait until we can have a face-to-face conversation before giving in any unusual ways. Thank you.
SERVERS NEEDED TOMORROW!
We are just about ready for our next serving on Saturday, August 27 in Pottstown but could still use a few more hands. Please consider joining us in changing the lives of those with food insecurity! Sign up or if you have questions, please reach out to Agnes Fischer & Bruce St. Clair via the buttons below.

TRIP OF A LIFETIME!
An incredible opportunity is waiting for YOU! At long last, having survived the pandemic and two years of waiting, plans for our Wayne Church Holy Land Tour are in the home stretch toward our November 12th departure. Unfortunately, two of our tour members have had to cancel their participation in the trip. While we are sad that they will not be able to follow the incredible routes that Jesus walked with us, this means we have space for two people to join us!

Our group of 40 (once YOU join us) will be traveling November 12 – 20 (THIS fall). Our passenger list boasts all wonderful people, including Pastor Tom and Kimm Ebersole! This is a travel opportunity you won’t see again! The inclusive cost for our fully escorted tour is just $3289 per person, sharing a twin room. This includes directflights to Tel Aviv and back from Newark Airport. An optional trip to Masada & the Dead Sea is just $108, and travel insurance (always recommended) is $259 per person. Please contact Sue Scott immediately if you are interested, and she will share complete details.  This is an adventure you do NOT want to miss!
ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE!
Wayne Church has a passion for serving, and one these ministries is our involvement with Family Promise of the Main Line (formerly known as Interfaith Hospitality Network - IHN - of the Main Line). This is a non-profit that supports homeless families who have fallen on hard times. Family Promise has even been mentioned on the Today show! Families typically are supported several weeks until they are once again employed and have found housing.

Wayne Church, along with several other congregations, supports Central Baptist Church when they house the two or three families for a week five times a year. Other groups of congregations do the hosting and support on the other weeks.

This fall, for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, we will once again be cooking and serving food and staying overnight as chaperones at Central Baptist. Our upcoming week is September 18-24, and we will be preparing food to bring in and serve the evening of Sunday the 18th. If you are interested in helping to prepare and/or serve this meal or volunteering to stay overnight any night that week (8:30 pm to 6:00 am AND you get to sleep!) as a chaperone, please email Becky Douglas. You can also support the mission of Family Promise through financial contributions via the button below.
CAMP 2022 WAS A SUCCESS!
On August 2nd, 23 moms, 26 babies under the age of four and 10 leaders from the Liberty Region set off for Lake Champion expecting the best week of their lives. Teen moms zipped down the zip line, tubed off the back of a boat, conquered the high ropes course and participated in so many other amazing activities. They laughed together and cried together. And most importantly moms got to hear about Jesus in a way that was appropriate for their ages and life stages. Along the way they were accompanied by loving and caring leaders who have been ministering to them throughout 2022 and sometimes for longer than just one year. New and exciting adventures were woven into the main goal of camp which is to show forth the good news of Jesus at every turn. Best week of their lives is what a lot report. Thanks to everyone who supports this important mission!
WE LOVE VEGGIES!
Our Food Truck VBS was a big hit! Thank you to all of our adult and youth volunteers as well as the church staff who helped on Saturday, August 13th! And thank you to everyone who sent children to participate in VBS! We had almost 30 people take part in this event, including kids, youth and adults. Christine Garton is deeply grateful to all for helping us have such a fun Bible-based event!
WOMEN OF WAYNE'S ANNUAL FALL RETREAT
When: October 1 & 2
One of the most valued of all women’s activities is time taken away from the hustle
and bustle of our daily lives, refreshing ourselves and renewing our energy for our
children, our spouses, our extended families and friends. Given the restrictions of the pandemic, we know how much more self-care has been emphasized recently. The Women of Wayne’s annual retreat is a wonderful opportunity (and a gift) to take care of you, focus on your spiritual self, and enjoy important fellowship with some of the wonderful women in our Wayne Church family.

After a pandemic-caused hiatus (last year’s retreat was “virtual”), we’d like your input as we reinstitute the in-person WOW Retreat this year. Please put October 2 & 3 on your calendars and also complete the short survey via the button below. Your responses/comments will be used to create an aggregated output and will not be shared, unless you identify yourself at the end of the survey. If you would like to provide written feedback, please contact Denise Carmichael below. Thank you for your response.

WAYNE CARES IS OFF AND RUNNING!
On July 31, Bob King shared all things Wayne Cares to the church family. He explained that Wayne Cares is a recently approved 501(c)3, nonprofit or organization which will encompass the financial and operational aspects of the Wayne Food Pantry, the Christmas Challenge and other projects and activities!  Its mission, “to provide and maintain a network of people providing food and other material support to people in need, primarily in the Radnor Township area”, provides the focus. The Board of Directors includes Bob King (Chair), Amy Wildey (Vice-Chair), Michele Leonard (secretary) and Rich Switzer (treasurer).  Other board members include Pastor Greg Impink, Ali King, BethAnn Sobyak and Andy Ryder.  The inclusion of community board members illustrates the goal of networking with other township organizations. ISRAEL ADVENTURE BIBLE STUDY
Mondays at 7:00pm in The Well and on Zoom!
August 29, September 12 & 26, October 10 & 24
This Bible Study is for everyone. Everyone traveling to the Holy Land in November, anyone who has made a trip to the Holy Land, or those who are dreaming of a trip to the Holy Land. Our own Marianne Nolan will dissect our November itinerary into seven sessions (one for each of our seven days) that will prepare us to engage in this adventure from a contextual Biblical perspective. There is no better way to prepare for this trip-of-a-lifetime and better understand the importance of the sites we will see.  She will also touch on the complicated cultural situation that exists in Israel today, as well as giving some practical tips to make your trip safe and enjoyable. Marianne is one of our newest Wayne Church members.  She holds a Master’s degree in New Testament Biblical Interpretation from Denver Seminary.  Marianne and her husband Bob also lived in Jerusalem for the Spring 2015 semester, learning about the land and its people while she studied at Jerusalem University College in the Old City.  If you have questions or want to get on the Zoom list, contact Sue Scott via the button below!

WE HAVE A CHURCH DIRECTORY!
SEND US YOUR PICTURE!
The church directory is an awesome tool to have in your pocket! Especially if you meet someone new and you want to make sure you put the name with a face! All church members are listed in the directory, and it is perfectly SAFE! You can only access it through the email the church office has on file for you and even then, you need to create a profile to access. Now is the perfect time to update your picture in the directory!! There are MANY new faces. Families have grown and are still growing, and we haven’t seen each other in person for a couple of years! It will be a refresher for all of us, as well as, help Pastor Greg learn who we are.
CHURCH DIRECTORY FOR
FIRST TIME USERS
Our church directory is available for you on your computer or your cellphone! If you haven’t signed in before, it’s super easy, just click the button below! You will be asked to enter your email address as it's listed in our directory. If your email address isn't listed in the directory, let Linda Sands know by the button below so it can be added.
