The Story of Francisco Rullan
Iris Rullan and her son, Francisco moved to Florida from Puerto Rico when Francisco was just six years old. Francisco grew up to be a health insurance agent who loved motorcycles, gaming, and connecting with people. Iris and Francisco were very close; she loved to cook for him.

When Francisco received his driver’s license at the age of 16, he immediately wanted to sign up to be an organ donor. As his mother, Iris did not want to think of her son in that situation, but she honored his wishes anyway.

Francisco passed away in 2017. Through the tragedy of losing her son, Iris felt blessed to be able to meet one of her son’s cornea recipients, a young woman named Sarah.

“She was the perfect match to receive my son’s cornea. I feel like he is still here with me having the blessing of meeting the recipients. A piece of him is still giving life to others.”
- Iris Rullan, Francisco's Mother
Iris and her family celebrated Francisco’s life with a mass on the first anniversary of his passing. Sarah was, fortunately, able to attend. Iris told the guests of the significance of Francisco’s gift and all of his friends in attendance were touched to know that he continues to have a positive impact on the world.
