Los Alamitos Community Center Grand Re-Opening

Today!


You and your family are invited to attend the Grand Re-Opening of the City of Los Alamitos Community Center located at 10911 Oak St., Los Alamitos. Please join us today Friday, October 4, 2024 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for our Grand Re-Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony beginning at 5:30 p.m. Come dressed up in cocktail attire, tour our Open House, and celebrate with us! This event is free and includes appetizers (first come, first served), DJ and dancing! Additional parking will be available at the Oak Middle School parking lot. 


We proudly rededicate this facility as a testament to the collective efforts, vision, and generosity of this great community. May this Community Center continue to be a place to gather, learn, grow, and celebrate. This project was made possible through the dedicated work and financial support of State Senator Janet Nguyen.

Accountability, Transparency Charter

Reform Measure


In the November 2024 general election, registered voters will see Measure X - Los Alamitos City Government Accountability, Transparency Charter Reform on the ballot. The measure aims to update the City Charter, which was initially established in 1966. 

 

Measure X offers several key reforms including updating the public works contracting requirements, establishing district-specific term limits for City Council members, updating language related to district elections, placing local campaign contribution limits on those seeking City Council office and requiring public filing and disclosure of lobbyist activities in the City.

2024 Shred Event


Please join us for our Annual Community Shred Event. Members of the public are invited to queue up in the Community Center parking lot, where we will have staff available to help you offload your documents for shredding. We ask residents limit themselves to 4 boxes per car. Shredding is completed onsite. The event will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or until the truck is filled.

Elevate Women's Conference - Only a few spots left!


Join us for the City of Los Alamitos 3rd annual “Elevate” Women’s Conference on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Los Alamitos Community Center. Take time to invest in yourself and your future. In this half day conference, you will open your mind to new concepts to help you achieve your best self, both personally and professionally. Learn new tactical skills that will shift your mindset and connect with local women, like yourself, who are also committed to growing. Pre-registration of $40 is required and the event is targeted for ages 18+. Lunch is included. Register today, as seating is limited.

Trunk or Treat


Get ready for a spooktacular good time! Join us for the MemorialCare Miller Children's & Women's Hospital Long Beach Trunk or Treat presented by Southland Credit Union on Saturday, October 26 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at Little Cottonwood Park. Make sure to bring your costumes and sweet tooth as the night will be filled with treats, thrills, and a trunkful of fun! Trick or treating from trunks, the ever so popular costume contest, a brand NEW pet costume contest (dogs must be leashed), an adult pie eating contest, a spooky train ride, food and artisan vendors, carnival games, a beverage garden benefiting the Los Alamitos Community Foundation, inflatables, and a free pumpkin patch presented by Southland Credit Union will be available for all to enjoy!

Los Alamitos Aquatics Program


Youth Swim Lessons are available now at the MWR Aquatic Training Center at the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base! There are 2-day-a-week and 1-day-a-week options and a variety of times to fit your schedule. Space is limited in some classes, so make sure to register as soon as possible! Don’t forget FREE recreation swim is offered on Fridays and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. until September at the MWR Aquatic Training Center, reservations can be made online.

Pickleball Time at the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base Gym


The Los Alamitos Recreation and Community Services Department offers open-play pickleball on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base Gym (11360 Valley Forge Ave, Los Alamitos, CA 90720). Two time slots are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Come see what the pickleball buzz is all about! 


* Please note that on Tuesday evenings, from 9/10 – 10/15, pickleball will run from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.


The drop-in fee per session is $5 per person (cash only). A monthly membership option is available for $30 which grants you access to all sessions throughout the month. Monthly memberships are purchased online.


All participants entering the Joint Forces Training Base must have a valid I.D. present.

Nites on Pine St.


The City of Los Alamitos and Elite Special Events are excited to announce a new monthly event, "Nites on Pine," in downtown Los Alamitos. This lively street fair will feature live music, a free kids zone, gourmet food trucks, and creative pop-up retail vendors. Scheduled on the third Saturday of each month, the upcoming dates are Aug. 17, Sept. 21, Oct. 19, and Nov. 16, from 4:00 to 9:00 pm.


As a pop-up market, vendors are required to bring their own canopy, tables, and chairs. Limited power is available for vendors needing lights. We are renting only 30 retail and 5 food truck spaces, so submit your application promptly!
