Welcome to OICMF Scherzo (skert·sō/ noun: a vigorous, light, or playful composition)

A Fantastic Evening

On October 4, our very lucky in-person audience got to enjoy a stellar evening of solo piano as Jackie graced us at our “Jon Kimura Parker Fantasies and Beyond” concert.

A last minute venue change from Rosario Resort to the main stage at Orcas Center meant Jackie could perform on the Festival’s lovely 1904 Steinway, Valerie, and he made her sing! We were transported through a wide variety of works by Mozart, Ravel, Schubert, and John Adams, and finished our tour of fantasies in the most fantastical land of Oz, as arranged by William Hirtz.

We thank concert sponsor Helen Bee, Orcas Center and lighting wizard Jake Perrine, Anita Holladay, who created the glorious flower arrangements you see in these pictures, and of course Jackie for the amazing music and always informative and entertaining commentary (and fabulous socks).

We’re hiring!

The Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival is looking for the perfect Production/Volunteer Coordinator! This full-time, year-round position on Orcas Island is integral to all we do at the Festival in August and throughout the year. If you or someone you know is interested in joining the OICMF team, simply respond to this email, or write to anita@oicmf.org for more details and complete job description.
