MAROON & GOLD September 2021
Fellow alumni:

The students are back and the fall semester is in full swing! Homecoming is just around the corner, and I hope you will join me on campus October 1 and 2. This year we will celebrate and honor the 50th anniversaries of the classes of 1970 and 1971.

September Alumni Board Spotlight: Anita Wheat ’09. Click here to learn more about Anita, her Eureka experience, and why it’s important for her to stay involved with EC.

This month's spotlight will also feature Teresa Kennell '10, Director of Advancement Services.

As a reminder, if you are interested in joining the Alumni Board or learning more about responsibilities, please send an email to alumni@eureka.edu.

All the best,

The 20-Year Anniversary of 9/11
Whether you share a reflection through social media, perform an act of service, or remember through prayer, please join us in thinking of those taken from us too soon.

This 9/11 commemorates the twenty-year anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Join us as we honor our fallen heroes, frontline workers and loved ones before the home EC football game against Olivet beginning at 1pm CST.

Calling All Artists!
Are you interested in having your artwork displayed in the Eureka College Art Gallery in the Homecoming art exhibit? You will be joining an honored group of Peoria Artist's in this show, as follows:

From September 15th through October 3rd, 2021, Burgess Memorial Hall Art Gallery on the campus of Eureka College, presents work by members of the Peoria Guild of Black Artists, often referred to as PGOBA. This artist’s collective was organized in June 2020 following the murder of George Floyd — and in response to nationwide uprisings and the Black Lives Matter movement — to focus on celebrating and uplifting the voices of Black artists in Peoria, Illinois. The work in this exhibition explores Black identity, Black joy, and Black community through art expression.

Juell Hodges, Named Eureka's Ninth Head Coach in Softball History
Hodges, a 2018 alum of the University of Tennessee, will be the ninth head coach in Eureka softball history. She comes to Eureka after gaining experience working for two Division I programs.

Hodges will take over a Eureka team that has 11 players eligible to return from last season's squad, which went 8-16. Hodges, succeeds Debi Neff, who stepped down as head coach after nine seasons last May. Welcome Juell!
Who's that EC
Homecoming Queen?
Many aspects of life, culture and the campus have changed over the years but the pride and honor that comes with being named Homecoming Queen has not.

As we prepare to celebrate the 50 year reunion for the classes of 1970 and 1971. We thought it would be fun to also reminisce on our past EC Homecoming Queens.

Meet (top) Sandra (Griffith) Brown '70 and (bottom) Carolynn (Hawkins) Brown '71.
