Feminine Elegance in Silk...
How might the smooth, lustrous surface of silk influence the way I work on my sketches, doodles and whatnots? In many traditions such as Chinese or Japanese art, silk has been a canvas for exquisite paintings and calligraphy. Could it be the way silk reflects light, adding a shimmering quality to the drawing? How might silk's inherent qualities-its smoothness, lightness, and whisper-like texture- embody or enhance what you see as feminine grace? Silk has long been associated with femininity in various cultures...like kimonos in Japanese tradition. What role might color, line and composition play in my drawings...?
