A Message From Martin Brady, San Juan College Enterprise Center

We are honored that the Enterprise Center at San Juan College has been recognized as a Bronze Community Readiness site by the New Mexico Bioscience Authority. This designation represents an important first step in exploring how northwest New Mexico can participate in the growth of New Mexico’s bioscience economy.

At the Enterprise Center, we see bioscience as a broad and emerging opportunity that connects with many of our region’s strengths, including agriculture, food systems, healthcare, environmental science, workforce development, and entrepreneurship.

Our goal is to help local businesses, students, educators, innovators, and community leaders better understand the possibilities within this sector and identify pathways for future growth.

To continue that conversation, we are planning a Bioscience Day this fall in partnership with the New Mexico Bioscience Authority and other regional stakeholders. The event will focus on awareness, innovation, entrepreneurship, workforce pathways, and regional opportunities rather than technical research alone.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn from industry leaders, connect with resource organizations, and explore how bioscience can support economic development in rural and tribal communities. More information will be sent soon, but please reach out to me in the meantime at bradym@sanjuancollege.edu if you'd like to get involved.

We look forward to working with partners across the state to build new connections, strengthen our regional ecosystem, and help position northwest New Mexico for future bioscience opportunities.

Last month, New Mexico showed the world that we're the one to watch at the BIO International Convention in San Diego. From standout pitches at the Start-up Stadium by Sandia Biotech, Selva Nexus, Ursa Science, and Weka Biosciences, to impactful connections made at the New Mexico Pavilion, our local companies made waves.

Albuquerque Clinical Trials, Mesa Alta Research, Tramway Ventures, Sandia Medical Technologies, and SunSafe Technology gave convention attendees an inside look at the advancements being made in New Mexico. And all our companies made valuable partnerships that are sure to bring massive economic momentum to our state.

We'd like to extend a warm thank you to everyone who helped make this a success: AREA, NM Partnership, UNM HSC, SEA, and NM Venture Studios.

Stay tuned for details about BIO 2027 in Philadelphia, PA.

Inaugural BioLink Fosters Connection

Networking event brings bioscience innovators together to spark statewide collaboration.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our inaugural BioLink on Friday, June 26. Nearly 50 leaders spanning industry, investment, government, and workforce development braved a rainy Friday afternoon to join us at UNM Rainforest Innovations for refreshments—including beer generously donated by Santa Fe Brewing Company—and great conversation.

Events like these are more than an opportunity to meet other like-minded innovators—they’re a boost to our state’s economic and workforce development priorities. Connections made at BioLink will continue to grow, and we look forward to making this a quarterly event for our ecosystem to help drive innovations that will boost the health and well-being of our communities in New Mexico and beyond.

We look forward to our next event in the fall. Stay tuned for details!
