Living Proof

Dear St. Lukers,

This Saturday, the 152nd Kentucky Derby will take place at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. Twenty horses, along with their owners, trainers, and jockeys, will step onto one of the most iconic stages in sports. For a brief two minutes, everything they have prepared for will be tested. The race is about tradition, celebration, and proving something. Each competitor is there to demonstrate speed, strength, discipline, and the possibility of greatness, including a shot at the Triple Crown. The Kentucky Derby reminds us how much we value proof.

We want proof that something is real, proof that something works, and proof that something can be trusted. We look for proof in our work, in our relationships, and even in our faith. We’re often not satisfied with simply hearing about something, because we want to experience it for ourselves in a way that feels certain and personal.

That same desire shows up in our text this Sunday (John 20:24-29). Here, Thomas is not present when Jesus first appears to the other disciples after the resurrection. When they tell him, “We’ve seen the Lord,” he refuses to believe and does not accept their testimony alone. He responds by saying, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands, put my finger in the wounds left by the nails, and put my hand into his side, I won’t believe.”...

St. Luke's in Review

Because U Said "Yes"

A heartfelt thank you to the 248 St. Lukers and friends who came out to our Sleep in Heavenly Peace bed build over the weekend. Together, we exceeded our goal by building 81 beds, helping ensure dozens of children in our community have a warm, safe place to sleep.

If you would like to get involved with Sleep in Heavenly Peace between now and our next build day, there are many ways to do that! You can help deliver and assemble beds, support future build days, coordinate bedding donations, and more. We'd love to have you on the team, so email serve@st.lukes.org to get plugged in!

Commissioned to Care, Called to Serve

Last week in Traditional worship, Pastor Corey commissioned our newest Stephen Ministers: Cheryl Boyd, Hallie Welch, Karen Ficarelli, Cindy Jo, Ingrid Gangestad, Michael Woods, and Michael Babin. Past and present Stephen Ministers laid prayerful hands on them as we sent them forth in their calling to serve others in the ministry of Care.

Stephen Ministers complete 50+ hours of specialized training to walk alongside those navigating difficult seasons of life - offering confidential, one-to-one care (women with women, men with men). We thank all of our Stephen Ministers for their commitment, compassion, and faithful service to our congregation and community!

If you are going through a challenging time and would like to be confidentially matched with a Stephen Minister, please indicate this on your Connection Card, email the Care Office, or call 407.876.4991 ext. 262.

Rising Up to Youth Ministries

For the last few weeks, our 5th graders have carved out some intentional time to bridge from one ministry to the next. During the Rise Up overnight retreat, these tweens built more than beds - they built faith, friendships, and confidence as they took part in the transition from Children’s Ministries to Youth Ministries at St. Luke's. We’re so proud of them and excited for what’s ahead!
