Landscaping Completed in Heritage Oaks
On a sunny Saturday in December Whitney Angel’s landscaping was completed! Working from a landscape plan prepared by Habitat volunteer and Master Gardener Kris Vasser, Whitney and her family worked with a masked and socially distanced crew to plant, and install irrigation and mulch the areas in front of and to the sides of her home. The team included Mike DeMello, earning sweat equity hours for his home, house number three at Park Place.

Whitney said patience was involved, but she is happy with the outcome. “Covid delayed the project, but I was able to actually go to the nursery with my step dad and a Habitat volunteer and was able to see and pick out the plants that were in the plan. Even though it was December we were able to get a white version of the tree for the yard. It was a very special day for me to be included in finally getting the last piece of making our house into our home. Now it has the finishing touches!”
Meet Administrative/Program Coordinator — Brooke Batinic
The most recent addition to the Nevada County Habitat staff team, Broke, started with us in July.

When folks call into the Nevada County Habitat office they’ll hear the fresh, new voice of Brooke Batinic. Brooke joined the Habitat team on July 30 and will serve in the role of Administrative/Program/Event Coordinator.

“We really took our time in filling this position,” says Lorraine Larson, Nevada County Habitat Executive Director. “This role has an effect on just about every area of Habitat, and we think Brooke is a perfect fit. We’re excited to have Brooke as a valued member of our team.” Read More>
