"All is a miracle. The supendous order of nature, the revolution of a hundred million of worlds round a million of stars, the activity of light, the life of all animals, all are grand and perpetual miracles." Voltaire (1694-1778) France

Hey cherie,

I can hardly believe it's already October, and fall seems to have arrived early this year!

Fall is my home's best season. The "stupendous order of nature" has bestowed what seems like millions of multi-colored leaves everywhere. They fall daily from our trees onto the roof, paver patio, walkway, ground cover between the trees,...Until it's time to blow and rake them up before the first snowfall, I love coming home to the Martha Stewart feel of my yard!

Each year, this seasonal transition is a miracle, whenever it arrives. I adore nature's gift of four seasons. Each season gives me a change to reinvent, transform, try something new. I think of seasonal changes as times to rebirth myself, my home, my products, well nearly everything one might imagine.

And you? How do you feel about the changing seasons? Do they inspire you to transition too in some special way? Do you feel that call that whispers "out with the old and in with something new"?

Seasonal transitions are also ideal times to detox mind, body (skin) and spirit. It's time to get rid of old stuff that's built up, settled in and may be less than desirable for the long haul. Dull dry surface skin cells, less than stellar dietary or lifestyle habits, or old mindset patterns that no longer serve you are primed for release. It's time to open the door to more positivity, gratefulness, grace, love, wisdom in all areas of your life. Leaving room to welcome something new can be an incredibly powerful thing.

You don't need to "do it all" in one full swoop, and in fact, it's probably best to keep it as simple and minimal as feels right to you. I promise that just changing a little bit here and there will bring in new health, beauty and fab overall vibes.

Dandelion tea detoxes and sugar scrubs are my go-to's every fall. Three cups of dandelion tea with a drizzle of honey throughout your day will detox your organs (including the largest organ of your body - your integumentary system aka your skin) in a very gentle and effective way and it's super high in restorative nutrients.

Why not drink a cup of hot tea while you're using your favorite sugar scrub in the bath or shower at night - just 2-3 times per week for the sugar scrub, don't overdo it. You'll feel the difference in the way your skin looks and feels from the very start, and if you continue gentle exfoliation, you'll discover your best skin ever, even on the driest days of winter.

Besides the miracles of nature, Alaskan fjords and the Mendenhall Glacier's waterfall near Juneau as shown above from a recent trip my husband and I took this September to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary (yikes how did that happen - it certainly doesn't feel like we've arrived at our big 3-0, but always happy that he's the one by my side), I believe that manmade art is a miracle. The glass blown sculptures of Dale Chihuly, such as the ones above in Seattle are without a doubt miracles. A sweet bunny chomping on the greenery in the gardens amidst Chihuly's exquisite handblown glass is another miracle. Like Voltaire says, it's all a miracle.

Do you agree that Chihuly's blown glass sculptures are miraculous?

I mean the entire process of blowing glass to create intensely colorful sculptures like those shown above just blows my mind. How can it not be a miracle! And it's an ancient procedure dating back to biblical times. We use nature to create art that appears completely miraculous to me. I think I've always believed that our creative spirits are miracles themselves and whatever they produce comes from an inherent source of divine inspiration and power. Go Voltaire!

Sending lots of love to you and yours. May you feel feel joie de vivre always, at the heart of all creative expression. Whatever your raison d'etre, be joyful and therein celebrate the miracle of this thing we call life! Wishing you a beautiful transitional season of miracles!

Warmest hugs,

Raulla xoxo

When you feel a chill in the air, the leaves change into gorgeous colors before falling from the trees, and you know you've got to grab a jacket before heading out, it's the perfect time to reach for your sugar scrub and body butter to exfoliate old dull dry surface skin cells and treat your skin with rich moisturizing natural oils and butters to care for it right now and through the fall and winter months. When you take care of your skin in this way, it'll thank you by remaining healthy, soft and smooth, free of irritability and dryness, even on the coldest days of the season.

So, we're offering a very special promo on all our sugar scrub and body butter gift sets - select your favorite fragrance in both the sugar scrub and body butter, or mix and match to create your signature fragrance.

Whenever we transition from one season to another, it’s a great time to detox. Out with the old, in with the new.
Why not combine an internal detox (like our easy Dandelion Detox) with a topical detox (with one of our Gentle Exfoliating Sugar Scrubs) Red Note has the perfect gentle exfoliating sugar scrub YOU and YOUR SKIN will love!
Dandelion detox (internal cleanse), sugar exfoliation detox (externally removing old dead skin cells for softer smoother skin), and now 3 more detox tips to cleanse mind, body and spirit and maintain a healthier you:
  • Hydrotherapy
  • Yoga
  • Sleep
Keep your thick lotions within reach for overall body moisturizing, but perhaps your neck, decollete, hands and feet could use some special pampering with heavier nutrient rich natural oils like avocado oil and butters like shea, mango, cocoa and shorea. .
Since this is after all a skincare blog, have you thought about a DIY pampering facial or mask made with just a few yummy ingredients from your fridge?
‘Tis the season for pumpkins! What else will you do with your leftover Jack O’Lantern? There’s pumpkin pie, pumpkin crisp, pumpkin soup, and salted (or sugared) pumpkin seeds…and pumpkin facials!
