Dear St. Alphonsus Families,
Well, here we are! Welcome to the last week before Christmas break begins. We are sure holiday prep is well under way in your households, just as it is here at school. We know this last week will go by quickly! Here are some reminders for the week:
Friday, December 20 will be early dismissal at 11:30am! Please consider joining us for Las Posadas that morning (details below) and then pick your students up early at 11:30am to start your Christmas break.
A bunch of school store orders are going home today. If you are still missing items, please contact Mrs. Schermetzler with the following information: the name you placed the order under, the order #, and your order date, and she will try to get anything remaining tracked down. Please remember that per previous newsletters, if you placed an order after December 6 it was not guaranteed for Christmas break delivery. Mrs. Schermetzler also has no control over items that are backordered from the company, but she will do her best to track down anything missing!
There are lots of extracurricular opportunities for your students to sign up for this winter, and we want to remind you of a very special one: CharacterKids, coming to St. Al's for the first time! This is an AWESOME musical theatre program for students in grades 1-5 that starts in January. You can find more details below, and we hope you will consider signing your students up!
Our next Pizza Lunch is this Wednesday, December 18. Remember that no hot lunch or milk are served on this day. Home & School could still use a few more volunteers to help serve pizzas. All volunteers must be safeguarded, and you can sign up here.
Lastly, don't forget to make plans to join us for a very special St. Alphonsus holiday tradition this Friday at 8:00am in church: Las Posadas. This is a special program & prayer service that tells the store of Mary & Joseph's Journey to Bethlehem in Spanish, and the whole school attends and participates. It is a lovely way to send everyone off for Christmas break. More details below! Also remember that Friday, December 20 is a DRESS UP day! Put on those Christmas dresses and ties, wear your Sunday best, and dress up to celebrate the last day of school. No jeans or athletic wear--if your student is not going to dress up, they should wear their school uniform.
As we approach the Christmas holidays and welcome the new year, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to each of our school families for their unwavering support and dedication to our school community. May this season of joy bring peace, love, and blessings to your homes, and may the new year be filled with hope and renewed strength. We are grateful for the opportunity to share in your children's growth and faith, and we look forward to continuing this journey together in 2025.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We look forward to seeing you all back in school on Monday, January 6!
Best regards,
Ms. Parey, Principal
Mrs. Schermetzler & Mrs. Bruhn, Leadership Team
