Good Afternoon Kristin,
Today, as we celebrate the Baptism of the Lord, I am reminded of our mission. The Synod on Synodality has reminded us that “our personal call to holiness arises from our baptismal dignity.” Indeed, it is from our shared baptism out of which emerges our co-responsibility for the life and mission of the church.
In our baptism “[God] has called us to help others to see, through the love that we show and the help that we give, that God loves them, that He also invites them to be His sons and daughters and that He wants to be their helper and strength through all the troubles that life in this world can bring.”1
Our schools provide an environment where this call can prosper. They become light for the world, but it is only through the actions of our faculty, staff, and students that this Kingdom on Earth comes to be realized. The mission of our Catholic schools extends the mission of our Church. Today this mission and baptismal promise is renewed in Christ’s baptism in the Jordan.
With gratitude,
NICHOLAS FORD | Superintendent
