Columbia Housing Releases Aggressive 9-year $500,000 Development Plan

Shortly after new agency chief Ivory Mathews was selected to lead Columbia Housing, she began a 6-month assessment of all Columbia Housing properties. What she found was a capital backlog of over $250 Million.

Vision 2030 is the strategic framework through which Columbia Housing will reposition our Public Housing portfolio and create new affordable housing in the City of Columbia with the creation of public/private partnerships utilizing private capital.

To address the backlog, over the next 9 years, Columbia Housing will make an investment of over $500 million dollars in preserving and expanding affordable housing through public/private partnerships.

This week on OnPoint on WACH, we’re looking into Vision 2030: Columbia Housing Releases Aggressive 9-year $500,000 Development Plan.

Masks On or
Masks Off?

With less than a month left in the school year, Governor Henry McMaster signed an executive order prohibiting mask ordinances and a day later, Superintendent Molly Spearman rescinded the school face mask policy and also accused the Governor of creating hysteria. Even though these changes give parents the right for their children to opt out of wearing masks, it has caused divisiveness for the last few weeks of the school year. While some parents and teachers are for it, many oppose the decision saying it’s dangerous. Some say it’s creating an unsafe learning environment. Some students have even been bullied for not wearing masks.

This week on OnPoint, we’re looking into the latest mask ordinance in schools and asking if the governor overstepped his boundaries.
