Many non-profits face ongoing challenges in finding the volunteers they need to carry out their mission successfully. What sets SKIP apart is our dedicated pool of volunteers who consistently step up, work tirelessly, and answer the call whenever help is needed.
From November 2024 through April 2025, SKIP volunteers logged an incredible 5,368 hours and 45 minutes, averaging 870 hours per month!
We have over 30 volunteer roles, with the majority of hours coming from prep and service shifts. Food delivery has become a growing category since the launch of SKIP Delivers last May, though delivery hours from our partner Helping Our Women (HOW) aren’t included in our totals. We also track time spent on Food Bank pickups, Saturday meal prep, weekend packaging, and dishwashing support. December topped the charts with 1,033 volunteer hours, thanks to the extra effort around our annual Souper Saturday fundraiser.
All of us at SKIP are deeply grateful for our dedicated volunteers, incredible staff, HOW delivery drivers, and generous community members who donate food and sponsor lunches. Thank you to everyone who makes our mission possible. We've got an attitude of gratitude.

| | SKIP’s DINE-IN SEASON BY THE NUMBERS | |
From November 2024 to April 2025, SKIP served a total of 24,835 meals, a tremendous effort made possible by our dedicated team of volunteers and Chef Raul along with our wonderful dishwasher Didier. Here's the breakdown:
Dine-In: 9,881
Takeout: 13,165
Delivery: 1,789
We’re proud to report an increase in dine-in participation this season, 43% of meals were enjoyed on-site, up from 34% last year. Our volunteers kept pace, serving an average of 187 meals per hour! Looking ahead, we expect to deliver close to 1,800 more meals between May and October.
A heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this season such a success!

HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY SKIP DELIVERS!

In May 2024, SKIP launched SKIP Delivers—a pilot program providing twice-weekly meal delivery to individuals with health or mobility challenges. With Chef Paolo at the helm in the summer and Chef Raul continuing through the regular season, over 3,500 meals have been delivered thanks to volunteers from Helping Our Women (HOW) and SKIP. Chef Christina Scifo now carries the baton, preparing meals each Thursday and Friday at St. Mary of the Harbor, with continued support from our dedicated drivers.
Special thanks to longtime volunteer and board member Libby Cressey for leading this vital initiative.

WHAT'S COOKING
CHRISTINA SCIFO

We are thrilled to welcome Christina Scifo to Skip's Summer Lunch Delivery Program! As the executive chef at Foam Brewers and Deep City in Burlington, Vermont, she led the launch of Deep City - handling everything from concept development and menu creation to hiring and training. Under her leadership, the restaurant not only opened successfully but weathered the challenges of the pandemic and came out stronger.
Her career has taken her from high-end resorts to seasonal spots like Montauk’s Surf Lodge. In New York City, she worked as a consulting chef with Pen to Plate and Blackwood Hospitality, helping bring a wide range of restaurant and bar concepts to life. Christina graduated with honors from the New England Culinary Institute. She also spent time in Malawi with the Peace Corps, where she taught nutrition and food science as well as HIV prevention.
We are excited to have Christina on the SKIP team, and can't wait to see the dishes she’ll create for our community this summer.

FOOD RESOURCES
BEYOND SKIP'S REGULAR SEASON

Despite the closing of our weekday lunch and weekend to-go lunch program at the end of April, SKIP continues to participate in a number of programs to help those who are food insecure. These include:
—CROP SWAP. We provide funds to help this year-round, free provider of fresh fruit and vegetables, located at the Provincetown Public Library. Crop Swap posts when it restocks on Facebooks’s Provincetown Community Space.
—FOOD GIFT CARDS. We also provide Stop & Shop gift cards for distribution by Helping Our Women (HOW) and a church largely serving the area’s Jamaican community. These organizations determine who’s qualified to receive them.
—MEAL DELIVERY TO HOMEBOUND. On two days each week, we home-deliver nutritious meals to those with health, mobility and other qualifying issues. Contact the SKIP office, office@skipfood.org, to set up an interview to determine qualifications.
In addition, SKIP provides input and a link to The Lower Cape Food Access Guide updated in April 2025 by Outer Cape Community Solutions (OCCS). This comprehensive list details food resources available from Provincetown to Eastham, as well as other Cape-wide services. Check out the Resources page on our website, www.skipfood.org/resources, for a link to this guide, or pick up a copy in the SKIP office at 20 Shank Painter Road.

BOARD SPOTLIGHT
PAT McGRATH

Pat and her wife, SKIP volunteer Penny Manners, moved to Ptown in the fall of 2021, after decades of visiting from their home in NH. Prior to retirement, Pat worked as a tax attorney, concentrating on health and retirement plan guidance to businesses and nonprofits. Pat and Penny both are busy volunteering around town: at SKIP, the annual film festival, the Provincetown food pantry, and the Council on Aging. Pat brings her ability to “think like a lawyer” to the SKIP board - in case you’re not sure, that is a good thing!
