The Countdown to December 23 has started!
Greetings!

As promised;
MORE WHISKY DINNERS!

It's true, Octomorefest is upon us and so is another week of sunshine!

We have scheduled another round of Whisky Pairing dinners, The first is an Octomore dinner with Gez McAlpine on Tuesday October 25th. The second is a dinner with Jaime Johnson hosting our Glenfiddich dinner on Wednesday November 2nd. These two distilleries are so very different, Octomore whsikies are very heavily peated and are produced by our friends at Bruichladdich on Islay which is located in the Western Heberdies. Glenfiddich on the other hand is situated in the Heart of the Speyside region. Have a read below about the distilleries and how to book one of our very limited tickets.

Many people have asked to book reservations on Friday December 23rd, our last day of service, but we didn't think it fair to open up the reservation books for our last week of service. In order to accomodate as many people as we can during our last week we are planning 2 seatings, 5 pm and 8pm dinner services. We will be having a set menu with a few different options. Once we sort out the menu we will make it available on line.

We sincerely thank everyone for supporting our business over the past 36 years!

We’ll miss you

Octomorefest Whisky Pairing Dinner
We will be pairing 5 Bruichladdich whiskies, think Octomore and Port Charlotte with 5 dishes created by our talented kitchen team for this tasting. Gez McAlpine, Remy Cointreau's National Luxury Brand Manager will be leading our tasting. Tickets are limited so be sure to click the link below to purchase your tickets.

A bit about Bruichladdich and Octomore:
Originally founded in 1881, Bruichladdich had been mothballed for the better part of 5 years before a group of investors led by Murray McDavid’s Mark Reynier purchased the distillery and its stocks in 2000. The distillery is located across Loch Indaal from Bowmore and still uses much of the original Victorian equipment. The last authentic Lamond still, since named Ugly Betty, was installed in 2010 and distils The Botanist gin. In 2012 Remy Cointreau bought the distillery.

Much humorous conflict has arisen since the 2000 takeover: one of the webcams installed in the facility caused a stir with the American intelligence service when the equipment was mistaken for Iraq’s chemical weapons and the carea went down, an email was sent by an American agent asking for it to be repaired. Yellow Submarine was released after a local fisherman found an unmanned yellow submarine belonging to the British Navy. As no one came forward claiming it, he mounted on the front of his property.

Octomore, "the impossible equation" was first released in 2008 as a five old super heavily peated whisky which is always bottled at or near cask strength. Although it is super heavily peated it has such elegance and poise.

Glenfiddich Whisky Pairing Dinner
We will be pairing 5 Glenfiddich whiskies with 5 dishes created by our talented kitchen team for this tasting. Jaime Johnson, Glenfiddich's Canadian Brand Ambassador, will be leading our tasting. Tickets are limited so be sure to click the link below to purchase your tickets.

A bit about Glenfiddich:
Founded in 1887, Glenfiddich is the world’s best-selling single malt and one of the most awarded as well. Located in Dufftown, self proclaimed as the “Whisky Capital of the World” along the River Fiddich as it produces more malt whisky than any other town in Scotland.
Glenfiddich, valley of the deer, is owned by William Grant & Sons, Dufftown’s largest employer. The distillery was built by the family’s hands and spirit first ran from the stills on Christmas Day in 1887. In 1892 William Grant built the Balvenie distillery next door. The iconic three sided bottle was introduced in 1957 and in 1963 they began marketing single malt as a premium spirit. Glenfiddich is sold in over 180 countries and accounts for nearly 35% of all single malt sales.

A bit about Jaime:
Toronto-based Jamie Johnson is a highly respected whisky champion and conversationalist known for hosting tasting events and masterclasses across Canada as well as co-hosting the popular weekly whisky podcast, The Whisky Topic, and writing extensively about Bourbon and various other kinds of whisky for whisky.buzz and various online publications.
Jamie’s in-depth knowledge of whisky began with a personal passion project when she invited friends to her Toronto home to share drams and have spirited conversations about flavour, taste, production process, and so on. This informal gathering grew, as interest in contemporary whisky spread outwards, and soon Bourbon Thing became a real thing, with events in bars and restaurants, a fully-fledged website and partnerships with some of the city’s most well-respected bartenders, providing a space for whisky aficionados and neophytes alike to share a dram. Before long, Jamie realised she had found her life’s work – to spread the word about whisky.
With her move to William Grant and sons, think Glenfiddich and Balvenie, Jamie was able to turn her private passion into a whole new career and she is now motivated more than ever to hold as many different conversations with people about whisky as possible. Jamie’s ultimate ambition is to help make people realize how easy whisky is to drink; “to show people that though it is complex, it is not a complicated drink.”
Telling The Glenfiddich and Balvenie story across the awe-inspiring Canadian landscape – “From sea to sea” – Jamie enhanced her whisky knowledge by completing the renowned General Certificate in Distilling in 2018.
