WVWD is proud to announce it has received the prestigious Rising Star Award and Region 8 Outreach Award from the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) for its vigorous advocacy on issues critical to the water industry on behalf of its customers.
The District is actively engaged in communicating legislative priorities and building relationships with elected officials, their staff, and other key stakeholders. Even during these unprecedented times, WVWD has utilized new methods of advocacy to communicate its message and priorities to local, state, and federal elected officials. WVWD consistently tracked legislation that affected its ratepayers and helped advocate for legislation and policy with the goal of ensuring a sustainable water future.
ACWA is the state’s leading advocacy group on California water issues and policy and is the largest statewide coalition of public water agencies in the country. Its 430 public agency members collectively are responsible for 90% of the water delivered to cities, farms, and businesses in California.
