Thurmond Triathlon

The Town of Thurmond is making plans to hold the Thurmond Triathlon, a beginner triathlon, on Sunday, August 8, 2021. The beginner triathlon will take place in Thurmond and is open to anyone 7 years of age and older. Individuals, duos or families will bike from the Historic Thurmond Depot 2 miles to Stone Cliff where they will then paddle 1.5 miles to the Dun Glen Day Use area. From there contestants will run a two mile loop around the Historic Town of Thurmond.

Captain Thurmond Challenge Triathlon

Starts at 10:00AM

Captain Thurmond's Challenge is an extreme triathlon consisting of 28.5 miles of the most challenging mountain biking, whitewater and trail running the New River Gorge area has to offer! This year, the CTC will be held on Saturday, August 7th, 2021 with the starting line in quaint downtown Fayetteville, WV.
Kanawha Trace Trail Race
August 7
Ona, WV
Starts at 6AM & 8AM

People will travel from many different states to participate in this race.

The 50K and 25K race is set to cap out this year at 100 runners in each race. The 10K is unlimited runners and includes same day registration. All three courses are Point to Point trail races with one common finish at the Boy Scout camp in Ona/Barboursville, WV.
Cuffs and Hoses 5K/10K

Pikeville, KY
Starts at 8:00PM

Run with your first responders. Your perfect opportunity is Saturday night, August 7th, 8:00pm in downtown Pikeville!! The streets will be lined with lights and sirens from the police and fire department. 

This year the monies raised along with the registration fees will help with our Christmas with the First Responders and other community outreach projects for children all throughout pike county. The run/walk start/finish line will be at located by the Mountain Top Media Stage on Main Street in downtown Pikeville.

WVStrong Summer Running and Walking Challenge
June 1 - Sept 9

We have made these challenges so that anyone can complete them. The challenge starts June 1 and ends September 9. 

Route #1 - 222 Miles which will be 2.22 Miles/Day

Route #2 - 435 Miles which will be 4.35 Miles/Day

All registered participants will earn a commemorative light-weight shirt hoodie. Those that complete the challenge will earn an awesome challenge medal(s)!
