Welcome to Fall at IBC!

Dear IBCircle Members and friends,

A special thank you for a great start to our Fall series and all your active participation in our global Future of Work DEEP DIVE last week.

We're working on the Think Tank report on the outcomes and practical recommendations for management teams and look forward to sharing these with you shortly.

And, of course, so much news to share with you this month and so much more on the horizon...

Do get involved, contribute, share ideas, sponsor/advertise with us. We're taking this organization to a whole new level and would love to include you in the next steps of our exciting journey.

Sincerely,

Maggie

Maggie Fouquet.

President & CEO, IBCircle

Thank You For A Wonderful Summer

In June, we brought together internationally active CEOs, CFOs, founders, and investors for two exceptional events: our roundtable on Nonlinear Growth in a Disrupted World at Wipfli's stunning Denver atrium and rooftop on June 3, and our unforgettable Day at the Dojo on June 25 in Boulder — where 20 global executives stepped onto the mat with Aikido 7th Dan master and former GM/Opel executive Kei Izawa for an evening that was unlike anything IBCircle has ever done before. Full event reports for both are available at www.ibcircle.com/event-reports.

In July, we kept the energy going with two relaxed Worldly Tuesday Summer Meetups — 20 members and guests at Denver Beer Co. in Littleton on July 21, and 24 at the spectacular Ironwood Bar & Grill in Boulder on July 28. The response was warm enough that we will be bringing both back in September — watch this space for dates.

Thank you to everyone who joined us this summer. You are what makes IBCircle what it is.

Big news!

Our best thinking. On us.

For the next few weeks, we are making all of our IBCircle Think Tank Reports available to download completely free of charge — including the brand new 'Volume 2: Energy, AI and the New Industrial Order' Bob Mulverhill (details below).

No catch. We just believe in the quality of these reports, and we want as many leaders as possible to benefit from them.

Download them all at www.ibcircle.com/think-tank.

Our latest publication

The report every internationally active CEO should read right now.

We're delighted to announce the launch of Volume 2 in our Top Line Considerations for Business Leaders series: 'Energy, AI and the New Industrial Order', authored by Bob Mulverhill — Executive Chairman of OXT Technologies and Principal, IBC Ventures.

This report tackles what we believe is the most consequential strategic question facing management teams right now: energy is no longer a back-office utility expense. It is the binding variable governing growth, competitive advantage, and operational survival in the age of AI.

Bob examines the AI–energy nexus, the New Energy Trilemma (AI demand surge, geopolitical fragmentation, and regulatory realignment), the emergence of a new industrial geography, and cross-sector ripple effects in storage and cybersecurity — concluding with five concrete action items for management teams.

Available now at: www.ibcircle.com/think-tank.

Important info

If your company does business internationally through agents, consultants, distributors, or local partners, this article is required reading.

IBCircle Member Roxane Peyser of Alliance Growth Legal Advisors has written a sharp, practical guide to anti-corruption risk for small and mid-size businesses, explaining why FCPA exposure is far more common than most founders realize — and why "we would never approve a bribe" is not sufficient protection. She outlines the three questions every leader should ask before approving any third-party payment. Clear, direct, and genuinely useful.

Read it at www.ibcircle.com/blog.

Congratulations to

Phil Washington on his retirement

IBCircle congratulates Phil Washington on his retirement after more than 50 years of distinguished public service, including five years as CEO of Denver International Airport — the primary economic engine for Colorado, contributing $47.2 billion to the state's economy and supporting over 244,000 jobs. Under his leadership, DEN established Vision 100 and Operation 2045, bold strategic plans that have become models for airports across North America and internationally. IBCircle was honored to attend a special COMTO Colorado fireside chat with Phil at the Center of Equity and Excellence in Aviation on July 30 — organized by IBCircle member Barry Burch Jr., President of COMTO Colorado — an intimate and inspiring evening reflecting on his remarkable career. His legacy in transportation, workforce development, and community equity will be felt for generations. Interim CEO Dave LaPorte, formerly DEN's Chief Operating Officer, stepped into the role effective August 3.

Read the full retirement announcement here.

Launch of The Center of Equity and Excellence in Aviation (CEEA)

The fireside chat with Phil Washington also gave IBCircle the opportunity to experience first-hand the wonderful, newly opened Center of Equity and Excellence in Aviation (CEEA) — a first-of-its-kind initiative in the global aviation industry and a cornerstone of Phil Washington's legacy at DEN. Located on Level 4 of DEN, close to the Westin Hotel and Transit Center at Denver International Airport and opened to the public in July 2026, the CEEA focuses on three areas: a Business Development Training Academy for small businesses seeking to work with DEN, Career Pathways to build an aviation talent pipeline, and a Research and Innovation Lab open to participants of all ages. It is a remarkable space — and a powerful statement about what airports can do for their communities beyond moving passengers.

Teresa Troester-Falk on her new book: 'So You Got the Privacy Officer Title. NOW WHAT?'

Teresa Troester-Falk — founder and CEO of BlueSky Privacy and a globally recognized privacy compliance expert with over 20 years of experience — has just published 'So You Got the Privacy Officer Title. NOW WHAT?'. Teresa has built privacy programs at some of the world's leading organizations including DoubleClick (Google), Epsilon, Nielsen, and Nymity before founding BlueSky Privacy. Her book is a rare practical guide that works for organizations of every size — not just explaining the rules but showing you how to actually build and run a privacy program: who owns what, and how to create something that lasts. For any business operating internationally, where data privacy regulations continue to multiply and enforcement is increasing, this is essential reading.

The AI Playbook - A Gift from Tim Singleton

IBCircle member Tim Singleton, founder and President of Strive Technology Consulting, a trusted advisor to small and mid-size businesses, has created something genuinely valuable for our community — and he is making it available to IBCircle members at no charge.

'The AI Playbook: How to Build an AI-Ready Business Without a $1M Consulting Bill' is a five-part webinar series that cuts through the noise around artificial intelligence and delivers exactly what business leaders actually need: a practical, honest roadmap.

Built around a "Crawl, Walk, Run" framework, each session runs under an hour and covers a distinct, immediately actionable topic:

  • Why AI Isn't Making a Difference in Your Business (Yet)
  • The Hidden Risks of AI — And How to Use It Safely
  • The 20 Most Useful AI Tools Right Now
  • How to Actually Implement AI in Your Business
  • Using AI as Your Day-to-Day Superpower

All five sessions are now available on demand.

The philosophy behind the series is one that will resonate with IBCircle members: the goal of AI is not to dehumanize or replace your team, but to free them — and you — to focus on the creativity, judgment, and relationship-building that only humans can provide.

This is a serious resource from someone who has been helping Colorado businesses navigate technology for nearly two decades. We encourage you to take Tim up on his generosity.

Good news, Sad news

on Denver's International Connections

First, the exciting news

United Airlines will launch daily nonstop flights between Denver International Airport and Paris Charles de Gaulle beginning May 27, 2027 — operating year-round on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. This is the first-ever United service between Denver and Paris, and a significant milestone for Colorado's international connectivity. Paris joins Frankfurt, London Heathrow, Munich, and Rome in United's European network from Denver. Bonjour, Paris!

On a sadder note

Aer Lingus has discontinued its Dublin–Denver route, with the final flight operating on September 29, 2026, as part of a broader network restructuring that also affects Minneapolis and Las Vegas. Denver will now be without a direct link to Ireland. We will greatly miss working with Yvonne Muldoon and Grant Mitchell at Aer Lingus — their partnership with the Colorado international business community has been genuinely valued, and we hope the route returns in the future.
