BDO's TOP FORTY OVER 40
BDO's Top 40 Over 40 program celebrates remarkable individuals in our community over the age of 40 as a means to showcase mentors, champions and role models who encourage and foster the future leaders of our community.

The program has now completed. We thank all participants for their support - stay tuned for more information on the Top 40 Over 40 wrap party, which will take place September 8 at the Innovation Centre; details to follow.
JEAN LEE | Project Literacy

Jean Lee is the 40th Honouree in the 2021 Top 40 Over Forty Program presented by BDO LLP for this year’s program. In April of this year, Project Literacy Central Okanagan recognized Jean as their longest-serving volunteer with a reception at the Bertram Street facility. One of the teaching rooms has been named for Jean, who volunteered with Chamber member Project Literacy for 27 years until the pandemic drove her home. She helped children and new Canadians with their reading skills, a central need as the Okanagan welcomes more and more new immigrants for all that time.

City Takes Steps to Fire Safe City Parks
As hot, dry weather conditions persist, Kelowna Parks asks residents and visitors to avoid bringing all ignition sources into City parks. This applies to all cooking implements, including portable, propane-fueled barbecues. The ban on propane barbecues is added to bans on open fires, smoking and taking motorized vehicles off road that are always in place. The ban on portable barbecues is one way the City can control that risk without limiting access to City parks or closing them outright.
