Wow, we are in the final quarter of 2026! I just can't believe it. It has been a year full of activity, and we are so grateful to be celebrating 30 years with all of you.

This weekend, October 4 and 5, we are headed to Gillette to vend at their quilt show. Then Dave and I are off to South Africa for 10 days! I am leaving the shop in the hands of my fantastic staff, whom I appreciate so much, and I have no worries at all. Even our fur babies have a live-in caregiver, so they will not be traumatized by boarding.

The first weekend in November is our Needles and Peaks Quilt Retreat. We are sold out, and we are very grateful to all of you!

THREE GRANNYS WALK INTO A QUILT SHOP

Okay, we couldn't resist. This month we have not one, not two, but three grannys on our shelves, and each one is ready to make your fall a whole lot cozier. Pick your favorite, or do what we would do and pick all three.

Granny number one is the Granny Square Along Crochet Book by Lori Holt of Bee in my Bonnet, $29.99. When Lori was learning to crochet, her own grandmother started her off with granny squares, and she has been hooked ever since. After years and hundreds of squares, she still loves how scrappy and vintage they feel. Inside you will find 13 crochet projects that are perfect for using up your yarn stash. We only have 3 copies on the shelf in Rapid City, so don't wait too long.

Granny number two is Great Granny, also by Lori Holt, $19.99. Same designer, same love of all things granny, but this time in fabric! It uses her Great Granny Block to make two quilts, a table runner, and a pillow, and it includes labels for your finished quilts. Birmingham with Studio 180 Tools

This class will make the Birmingham table runner from Doug Leko's Tabletastic! 3, with focus on using the Studio 180 Wing Clipper for flying geese, and the Tucker Trimmer for half square triangles. The pattern has 64 flying geese in two different sizes. With the Wing Clipper, you can make 4 at a time! The method in the book will also be shown, so you can decide which is best for you!

Beginning Quilting Class

Come learn the basics of quilting while constructing a small baby quilt. You will leave this class knowing how to choose and use thread, needles, cutters and rules, and how to choose the best fabrics for your project. You will learn how to construct a nine patch and half square triangle blocks and how strip piecing makes block construction easy and fast! All of this is done while meeting new people and enjoying being a part of the quilt community in a small group. Space is limited so sign up soon! Only 8 seats available.

T-shirt Quilt Class

Taught by Wendy Martin of Harvest Moon Quilting Company

Have you ever wanted to take that box of T-shirts you have saved for years and make them into a keepsake quilt? This class will start from the very beginning planning to the final stitches. What will you learn: how to design the quilt, keeping your project organized, interface fusing, cutting T-Shirts, fabric selection tips, adding borders, discuss batting choices, tips on binding and lots of sewing tips along the way. The skill level for this class is Confident Beginner - some basic quilting/sewing knowledge and knowledge on how to operate your sewing.

Mini Wonderful Curve with the Quick Curve Mini Ruler

This book has sixteen seasonal quilts and contemporary quilt projects created with the Quick Curve Mini Ruler. The project choice is up to you - choose any of the projects from the book! We will make practice blocks to learn the cutting and stitching techniques, then will move on to work on your chosen project.

Feed Sack Tote Bag Class

Give a printed feed sack new life! In this class, you'll turn a real feed sack — chicken feed, dog food, birdseed, or livestock feed all work well — into a sturdy, one-of-a-kind tote bag with box corners so it stands up on its own and holds its shape. We'll cover choosing the best part of the design to feature, sewing the box-corner bottom, finishing a clean folded top edge, and attaching straps.

Calling all wool enthusiasts—mark your calendars for a delightful afternoon of creativity and camaraderie! We invite you to our FREE Open Sew Day at Quilt Connection, happening every Thursday.

You don't want to miss stitching this summer. Our wooly friend and instructor Monica will be popping in to stitch with us!

Please note: This is not a class, and no formal instruction in wool appliqué will be provided. This event is for stitchers to gather, enjoy, and work on their own wool appliqué projects in a fun, social setting.

No need to sign up—just show up!

UFO Pizza Night

Join us for an evening of sewing with friends, where you're free to work at your own pace on any project that sparks your creativity. Whether you're arranging blocks from years past, hand piecing or doing wool appliqué, even cross stitch, come get those UFO’s off the shelf and finished!

Cost includes pizza and the space to work, but please bring your own drink in a securely sealed cup. If you have allergies, feel free to bring your own food for a worry-free experience. Let's finish up those UFO’s and socialize together!

Must register so we can plan space accordingly and know how much pizza to order! Please let us know if you will need machine space or hand project seating.

We're excited to see this group of sewers come together to tackle some of your overdue projects!
