Today I will largely let the pictures do the talking. We got an early start in Bonavista and we're greeted on deck by a thick blanket of fog. About four hours later, after rounding Cape Bonavista, the blanket began to thin, revealing dramatic and captivating shorelines. Groups of sleek, white northern gannets with gold heads and black wing tips treated us to their skydiving for fish.
Eventually the fog thinned further as we made our entry into Trinity Bay and Trinity Harbour, passing spires of colored rock. It is a memorable entrance.
We tied to the dock here in Trinity at about 1400 and spent the afternoon touring the village and some of the historic buildings. Trinity was once one of the busiest fishing ports on this coast with a thriving community and wharfside mercantile buildings. Thankfully, much of the character is preserved. The small town has brightly painted homes and is a delight to the eye.
We had dinner ashore in an old twine loft where fishermen used to mend their nets. The salmon was delicious and the walk back to the boat afterwards was both cool and beautiful, with Annie picking wildflowers for the vase aboard.
I hope you enjoy the photos below. Trinity is beautiful!
