Dear AAGP Members:
We would like to take a moment to inform you that, effective August 23, Chris Woods is no longer serving as Executive Director of AAGP. Since 2014, Chris has played a critical role in the development and success of the organization. We thank him very much for seven years of dedicated service and wish him well in all future endeavors.
To that end, our association management company, Degnon Associates, conducted a thorough search for a new Executive Director and we are excited to announce that Rebecca Morgan, MPA, has accepted the position, effective immediately. The three of us worked closely with Laura Degnon, principal of Degnon Associates, and got the opportunity to interview with Rebecca before she was hired. We are thrilled with Rebecca’s extensive experience and professional achievements. Rebecca comes to AAGP with more than twenty years of association experience and is poised to bring AAGP to the next level. Rebecca is a visionary leader and a results-oriented problem solver with exceptional strategic thinking and communication skills. She is known to offer sound business acumen, proven decision making, and management skills to lead a value-driven organization like AAGP. Most recently, she was Senior Director for Media Communications & Advocacy with NAFSA: Association of International Educators. Rebecca received her BA in Communications from George Mason University and her MPA from Webster University. She is also accredited in Public Relations (PRSA) and is extremely passionate about geriatric health care.
When accepting the position, Rebecca shared that she is honored to be joining the AAGP team and is excited to advance our new strategic plan.
Rebecca is in the process of arranging times to connect with individual Board members, Past Presidents and Committee Chairs as well as sponsors, exhibitors, and key stakeholders to begin making meaningful relationships and learn as much as possible to best serve our organization. If you have any suggestions or ideas that we should be considering as an organization, we would love to hear from you as would Rebecca. AAGP exists for you, our members! We look forward to introducing you to Rebecca in the coming months and thank you for your continued support and dedicated service to the field of geriatric psychiatry.
