10 PASTORAL LEADERSHIP HABITS
THAT QUIETLY HURT A CHURCH
by Scott Postma // ChurchLeaders.com

Church attendance among Gen Z and millennials has nearly doubled since 2020, according to Barna Group. Young adults are showing up. The question is what they find when they get there.
Barna’s research heading into 2026 points to a widening gap: spiritual curiosity is rising faster than spiritual formation. Two-thirds of U.S. adults say they’ve made a personal commitment to Jesus, but fewer say their faith shapes daily life than did 25 years ago.
Pastoral leadership habits open that gap, one small choice at a time.
I’ve spent close to two decades in pastoral ministry, long enough to watch several theories about church decline rise and fall. Abuse, apostasy, cultural drift. Each one explains part of the picture. A quieter contributor receives less attention: the everyday leadership habits of pastors themselves, the small choices about what a church prioritizes that add up over years.
None of this assumes any single pastor has it all figured out, including me. It’s an invitation to look honestly at ten habits that tend to hollow out a church from the inside, even when attendance looks healthy on paper.

CMI GLOBAL ELECTS NEW
GENERAL OVERSEER

Rev. Jack Wolfe was elected as CMI Global General Overseer on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. PCCNA President Dr. Doug Beacham attended the annual convention to join leaders and fellow ministers for this important gathering.
Members elected Rev. Wolfe during the organization's annual convention in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to serve a 5-year term. He succeeds the outgoing general overseer, Dennis Kutzner. CMI Global is an international fellowship of churches and ministries and a member of the Pentecostal and Charismatic Churches of North America (PCCNA).
PCCNA extends heartfelt gratitude to Dennis Kutzner as he concludes his term as CMI Global General Overseer. We honor his years of faithful leadership, dedicated service, and commitment to advancing the Kingdom of God.

FIVE WAYS TO PROTECT YOUR PEACE THIS HOLIDAY SEASON
by Jessica Sanford // OpenBible.Org

The holidays elicit a variety of emotions, ranging from excited anticipation and joy to overwhelming feelings of stress and, at times, downright dread. How do we preserve our peace and emotional health this holiday season, while also keeping our hearts centered on Christ?
From my earliest memories, I have loved all things holiday—the gathering together of family and friends, the food shared around the table, the decorations, the smell of apple crisp baking in the oven and cider simmering, familiar traditions, and all the moments in between. Also, we mustn’t forget the beloved classics A Charlie Brown Christmas and my personal favorite, It’s a Wonderful Life.
It is not just one thing; rather, it is the culmination of many little and big things that have made the holidays so memorable.
One particularly special tradition in our household is hosting Thanksgiving and inviting each of our families to join. Over the years, we have had fun making this day our own, rarely making turkey and opting for roast beef instead. (I know; crazy, right?)
However, as much as I love this time of year, I am not naive about the tension that exists between my expectations of what the holidays should look like and what they oftentimes become. (Does anyone else’s family ever share a stomach bug right as the holiday season is in full swing?) I also can’t help but notice how the days between Thanksgiving and Christmas often become a blur as we move from one activity to the next. I remember one specific Christmas evening several years ago telling my husband as we fell into bed, “I am so glad Christmas is over.” Yikes! I don’t think this was the “good news of great joy” the angel of the Lord had in mind when he revealed the Messiah had been born.
