Over the past month, we have been reflecting on the seven times in John's gospel when Jesus describes himself with a metaphor beginning with the words "I AM."
This theme has been incorporated into all aspects of the worship service -- from the Call to Worship, to the confessions, prayers, scriptures, and sermons offered, and through all of the hymns and music sung and performed by our congregation, choir, and guest musicians. This past Sunday, as the Larchmont Symphonia lifted up a glorious rendition of the classic tune "Amazing Grace," the entire sanctuary buzzed with the energy of a congregation being drawn up into the warm embrace of the presence of God.
