WCCC Honors, Thanks Veterans
WCCC students and staff celebrated our Veterans with a Veterans Day Drive-Through Thank You breakfast on Nov. 11. Several veterans drove around the front circle to receive a to-go breakfast, cookies baked by Culinary, and a gift produced by Welding students. WCCC SkillsUSA local officers and welding students greeted the veterans. See more photos from the morning on our Facebook page. Plans are to hold our regular Veterans Day Breakfast in 2022 with food prepared by Culinary, and a program with Graphic Arts, Digital Media Arts, and our Learning Lab Preschoolers!

Atrium Campus and Main Campus!
Sinclair College is November VCP
Sinclair College was recognized for its partnership with WCCC Information Technology programs to provide college credit for courses taken in high school. IT Instructor at WCCC/Franklin Brett Kottmann nominated the Sinclair College Information Technology department for the November 2021 Valued Community Partner. WCCC offers IT programs at Main Campus and six satellites at Franklin, Kings, Little Miami, Springboro, Waynesville and Bishop Fenwick. WCCC Atrium Campus offers a Cybersecurity program.

“We work with the Sinclair IT department through Miami Valley Tech Prep,” Mr. Kottman said. “The goal is to allow high school students to take college level content while they are in a career tech program. The Sinclair faculty set up the classes with syllabus, content, and assessments that instructors can customize for our classes. They are also available to help us out with onboarding and end of year assessments as well as answer our questions during the year. It's a flexible system that allows me to give my career tech students the same opportunities to get college credit as AP and CCP classes do.” Pictured, Brett Kottmann with Paul Hansford, Sinclair IT.
Adult Firefighters Experience Live Burn
Adult students in Firefighter classes experienced a live burn recently in our Fire and Rescue Training Facility. This is always an exciting and pivotal day for students on their journey to becoming Firefighters.

New adult courses for Firefighter I and EMT Basic begin in February. High school sophomores can apply online in December for our two-year Fire Science program.

We’re proud to train both high school and adult students for such important careers.

Spotlight on Success: Surgical Grad Career Ready
Sarah Miller, Lebanon, Surgical Technology Class of 2021, is employed and pursuing further education as she works toward her career goals. “When I decided to go to WCCC, I knew I wanted a career in the medical field but not in nursing,” Sarah said. “I saw the brand-new Surgical Tech program and that it would be in the operating room, and that interested me. I love the idea of being a part of the surgery and being able to start as a Surgical Tech but with education move into other roles in the operating room. The Sterile Processing Certification and externship experience that I was able to obtain while still at WCCC gave me an advantage when applying at Miami Valley Hospital because I had more knowledge and experience than most entry level employees. I bypassed job shadowing and fast tracked through training.”

Because of Sarah’s experience in the Surgical Technology program, other employees in the unit were surprised how much she already knew on day one. She also got a higher rate of pay by having the certification in sterile processing. Sarah is working part time and attending Sinclair full time in the Surgical Tech program. She plans to graduate and transfer to Wright State to work on a Bachelor’s degree. Future plans are undecided but she plans to continue in the medical field. Her immediate goals are to begin working as a Surgical Tech in the operating room as soon as she obtains the degree and also to work toward specializing in cardiac surgeries. Read more HERE
