April Fools Day - All Fools Day
The origin of today - April Fools or All Fools Day - is not really clear. There is speculation that the origins is related to when France changed from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar which moved the New Year to January 1, from around April 1 at the spring equinox.

What ever the history may be, today until noon, it is recommended to use caution with your environment, what you hear or read. GOOD LUCK!

Happy Easter
Easter, also called Pascha (Aramaic, Greek, Latin) or Resurrection Sunday, is a Christian festival and holiday commemorating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, described in the New Testament as having occurred on the third day after his burial following his crucifixion by the Romans at Calvary c. 30 AD.

Many Christians celebrate Easter Sunday as the day of Jesus Christ's resurrection, which is written in the New Testament of the Christian bible. According to the Gospel of John in the New Testament, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb where Jesus was buried and found it empty.

Interesting Facts

Hot Cross Buns
At the feast of Eostre, the Saxon fertility goddess, an ox, was sacrificed, and it's crossed horns became a symbol of the season carved into the bread. The word 'bun' derives from the Saxon word 'boun' meaning 'sacred ox'.

Easter Lilies
It's believed that the lily, because of its shape, was associated with the reproductive organs, and therefore with fertility.

Easter Candles

Easter Bunny
The symbols of the Norse goddess Ostara were the hare and the egg, both representing fertility. Children believed the Easter Bunny would leave them coloured eggs if they were good, and left out their Easter bonnets and caps for the gifts.

Easter Eggs
The egg has been a symbol of rebirth and fertility for many centuries. Long before Christianity was introduced, eggs were painted with bright colours to celebrate the sunlight of spring.

The Chocolate Easter Egg

The Easter Bunny's Supply Chain
Traceability and Sustainability
There are some interesting pieces about the 'supply chain' for the Easter Bunny. Most dated, but always relevant. (see Source Reading below)

Today we need to ask ourselves, will our eggs and treats arrive in time? Did the supply chain, sourcing, and procurement professionals have a 'Plan B'? Did their orders arrive in advance of the Ever Given being stuck in the Suez Canal? The challenges in Supply Chain keep the professionals busy and it is never boring!

As we take a break this Easter, make sure you thank everyone in Supply Chain for getting you your eggs and chocolate!
