Hello Caldwell Baptists!
I hope you all are enjoying the cooler weather of the Fall season. According to folklore and Youtube weather “experts,” we are likely to have a very colorful leaf season and an above normal snowy winter. But the wooly worms have not yet given their winter weather prediction. I love the Fall season with its testimony of our wonderful Creator and Heavenly Father. How can anyone look at the beauty of a colorful fall season in the mountains and not know or acknowledge our Creator?
Psalm 19 says, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language where their vice is not heard. Their line has gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world.” God’s great creation speaks loudly, proclaiming His goodness, love, and majesty. People of every language in the world have the capacity and opportunity to know and acknowledge the true and living God, the Creator of the world. We are His creation as well, His unique and prized creation made in His image with a heart, soul, mind, and mouth to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. If God's creation and the changing seasons declare the glory of God, shouldn’t we?
We are in another season - the Homecoming and Revival season! Homecoming is about renewing old relationships with brothers and sisters in Christ. It is also about fellowship within our churches. Homecoming provides a great opportunity to share the gospel as well.
Revival season is about making assessments of our walk with our Lord, and a time for our churches to revive our commitments to be the church God wants us to be. Revival is meant to be a time to renew our enthusiasm for glorifying and serving our Lord. Revival is about refocusing on God’s word and His will for the ministries of our churches. It's about refreshing our hearts and renewing our joy as we work together in unity and harmony, serving our wonderful and loving Lord in the work of His church. Revival begins with prayer and requires that we are obedient to the study and proclamation of God’s Word. Only then will we be the church that God has called to spread the good news of Jesus Christ, the church that obeys His call to “go into all the world and make disciples.” In a nutshell, revival is renewing our zeal in fulfilling the Great Commission, which is our call to make disciples. Evangelism then flows from our obedience to His call!
“Revive us again, O Lord Jesus, that we may glorify your wonderful and holy Name!”
… And be joyful!
