Planning ahead now ensures the widest range of scheduling options.
Dear Part IV Examinee,
If you are planning to take the NBCE Part IV Exam in 2026, we encourage you to consider testing earlier in the year rather than waiting until the fall months.
As we continue expanding testing opportunities, our goal is to provide examinees with more scheduling options and flexibility than ever before. However, there is one reality we want to share transparently: while we project enough total testing capacity throughout the year to accommodate all eligible examinees, capacity is limited on any given testing weekend.
We have promised more opportunities to test, and that remains true. However, additional opportunities only create flexibility when demand is distributed across the testing calendar. Simply put, if everyone wants to test on the same weekend, there will not be enough seats available for everyone to do so.
October-December will Have the Highest Demand
The Part IV Exam can accommodate up to 72 examinees each testing weekend. Based on current projections, appointment demand may exceed available capacity if a significant number of examinees choose to test in October, November, or December.
When choosing a testing date, you may also wish to consider seasonal travel conditions. Although weather-related travel disruptions are uncommon in Colorado - even during the snowiest months - examinees who are not accustomed to winter weather may find the summer months offer a more comfortable and predictable travel experience.
Summer testing dates currently offer the greatest opportunity for examinees to secure their preferred testing timeframe. If you are eligible to test this summer, we strongly encourage you to consider doing so.
