Hamilton advances proposed data centre moratorium in pushback to rapid AI buildout
A proposed pause on new power-hungry data centres in Hamilton cleared a hurdle on Tuesday, the latest step in a growing pushback to Canada’s buildout of artificial intelligence infrastructure.
A planning committee voted to send the proposed moratorium plan to Hamilton’s city council for a vote at a later date. The motion brought by Coun. Nrinder Nann would ask staff to draft a moratorium, framing it as a chance to give the city time to study data centre impacts and develop a framework to guide their future development.

Steel producers association unhappy with tariff remission program extensions
The head of the Canadian Steel Producers Association says Ottawa’s latest extension of a program that offsets the cost of tariffs in some sectors fails to encourage domestic firms to diversify away from the United States.

Pre-qual, bids, RFIs, change orders, billing, six stages every job runs through, and not one of them connects.
Most construction companies don’t have a software problem. They have a handoff problem. Each stage lives in its own tool, inbox, or spreadsheet, so between every step a person re-keys the data by hand. That’s where margin quietly walks out the door: verbal change orders that never get invoiced, won bids re-entered from scratch, RFI answers buried in someone’s inbox, and Friday afternoons lost to building status reports.
Eligeo is a construction operations firm that fixes the process before touching the software. It starts with a Process Audit, a fixed-fee, $1,500 operational diagnostic that maps how work actually moves through your business today (your as-is), pinpoints exactly where revenue is leaking, and hands you a prioritized blueprint for what it should look like (your to-be), ranked by ROI.
You walk away with an action plan you can use with or without us. And if you move forward on implementation, the full $1,500 is credited toward your engagement, you never pay for the same work twice.
