Connect! Register for a free account with PA CareerLink® online and get instant access to thousands of potential candidates and a variety of free services to help promote your business. Hire! Get customized resources from a trained Business Services Representative, including job posting support, to find qualified candidates to meet the needs of your company. Develop! Invest in your future workforce through pipeline development activities with the MontcoWorks*NOW program for youth and young adults. Train! Learn about training options that best suit your business needs including Customized Job Training, On-the-Job Training, Paid Work Experience, Pre- Apprenticeships, and Apprenticeships. Retain! Keep your workforce strong with resources for professional development and skill upgrades through SkillUp™ PA or Incumbent Worker Training. This list is intended to give an example of some of the many services available through PA CareerLink® Montgomery County programming. Additional services may be available based upon special initiatives or grant funding. Eligibility requirements may apply to some services. Save the Dates! On September 14, MontcoWorks will be holding a reverse job fair – the Careers of Tomorrow Connections Fair – providing a more comfortable setting for career seekers and giving employers a chance to interact with potential candidates who are ready to work but who are often overlooked in the hiring process. Career seekers who have had difficulty connecting with employers in the past are invited to participate – creating presentations and displays that highlight their talents. Employers will then have the unique opportunity to walk through the fair, interacting with candidates whose skills align with their open positions. Workshops will be offered ahead of the event to help career seekers develop their presentations. We will also be inviting community organizations to attend and walk through the fair, connecting to careers seekers that may benefit from their services. Attendees, including employers and organizations that serve career seekers can register HERE. The Montgomery County Commerce Department and Montgomery County Workforce Development Board are proud to announce a Save-the-Date for the 2023 Careers of Tomorrow Student Expo on October 24, 2023. The multi-industry career fair will once again be held at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks. Montgomery County schools will again be invited to bring students in grades 8-12 to participate. Last year, over 900 students interacted with exhibitors representing in-demand career paths in healthcare, manufacturing, building trades, energy, social assistance, education, public safety and professional/scientific industries. We will once again invite employers representing industries with current and future labor demand to provide hands-on experience to the next generation of workers through dialogue and demonstration. Anyone interested in learning more about Careers of Tomorrow to participate as an exhibitor, school, or volunteer can complete this poll and receive updates as they become available on this exciting event.

Resource Spotlight

Did you know that there is a Federal Bonding Program that was created to incentivize employers to hire at-risk, hard-to-place career seekers? The program may provide an employer with a business insurance policy that protects an employer against loss of money or property due to employee dishonesty. The bond is good for six months up to the amount of $5,000 at no cost. To request a Federal Bond, the employer must call the Bonding Coordinator on the new employee's start date. A simple 10-15 minute telephone interview takes place. A confirmation letter is then sent to the company and McLaughlin Company, who issues the bond directly to the employer.
