Richard Lee Olson
January 16, 1933 – February 11, 2019
Richard Olson was born January 16th 1933, near Caney Kansas at home. He was the second son of Emma and Frank Olson. He had one brother, Bob . Richard met his future wife, Beverley, while he was working in a horse stable near Wichita Kansas. They married and began their long partnership of 67 years. Together they raised 5 children and many fine Morgan horses in Kansas and in Washington State. Richard was an aviation engineer. After visiting the Seattle World's Fair in 1962, Richard and Beverley moved their young family to the Seattle area. Richard especially loved the beauty of the beaches, waterways and mountains in the northwest. He remained active raising horses, as well as in his local church. And both kept busy raising the family. Richard loved music, especially old time music, and played several stringed instruments. He taught many of his children to play instruments. In later years, Richard took great delight in his many grandchildren, never missing a sporting event or concert as they were growing up. Over the years Richard became an avid birdwatcher and was a reliable source a bird identification. Richard passed away peacefully at Regency Care Center in Monroe Washington on February 11th 2019. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Many prayers to Beverly and the whole Olson family.

Out of the Past
Empyrean Apollo
[Pecos x Windcrest Nancy C]
Foaled in 1970
Lost at 4 years of age with only about 20 foals on the ground he nevertheless sired Apollo's Reflection, Van Lu Love Story, Tara's Hallmark, Carolina Cabaret, etc. About half his offspring were champions and Grand National winners. Perhaps one of the greatest losses to the breed in recent times.

Thank you for this information
Sharon Harper.

Robert & Deborah Stevenson are in Sanya, Hainan Island, China. " After a tour of Sanya Island, I couldn’t find my passport “copy” for Chinese immigration authorities to allow me to return to the ship. I finally showed them a credit card with my photo and wrote my date of birth on a blank piece of paper. They took pity on me and allowed me on the ship. Very embarrassing to get back to our room and find the passport copy in the pocket of my slim fanny pack that I was wearing under my clothes!!

From Marli Perry on February 25th - Golf anyone? Our golf hole is a tad bit covered in that white stuff! We have about 2 feet of snow since yesterday! I snowshoed to the barn to feed and clean this AM! Joe got the driveway plowed so I can get the Kubota up and down, what a blessing that is! Josie simply plowed her way to the barn in her truck! Ah life is wonderful! Stay warm and dry my fellow Central Oregonians! I hope this is a sign winter is coming to an end. Ha!
