July 2025 Newsletter

Hi everyone and I hope your summer has been wonderful so far! :)

It has been hot, hot, hot here in Tennessee, but it has been comfortable up on the mountain. I've been cold-brewing pitchers of my blends and they have been so refreshing when I take a break to sit outside on my front porch every afternoon. I hope you have been doing the same! If you missed last month's newsletter, which consisted of all info related to iced tea, here is the link.

I'm still blending teas, receiving inventory and filling and shipping out your orders. Don't forget that all your favorite summer teas and tisanes are still available, but some are getting low and will not be restocked this season. See the list at the bottom of this newsletter and make sure you grab the ones you need!

A note about a few teas and blends that are currently still out of stock. Some supply chains have been affected and it is taking some teas a very long time to get to me. Gunpowder Organic Green Tea and Lemongrass Spearmint Organic Green Tea are two of the very popular teas that are currently affected. The Gunpowder should be back in stock within two weeks and then I'll be able to blend the Lemongrass Spearmint. Keep your fingers crossed that there are no additional delays!

As a reminder, orders are shipped on Mondays and Thursdays and deadlines are Saturdays and Tuesdays at 5:00PM EST, respectively. If the orders are not picked up by my postal carrier on either of these days, then they will ship the next day. As always, I fill and ship orders as quickly as I can. Even though there is a schedule, if I am able to fill an order that comes in past the deadline then I will!

Last month I teased that a new Glenburn Estate tea has arrived. I finally got it live on the website! To introduce this new tea, I figured I would dedicate this newsletter to all the fabulous teas from the Glenburn Estate.

As always, I appreciate your continued support of my small business!! :)

Glenburn Estate Teas

The Glenburn Estate was established in 1859 by a Scottish tea company; however, it has now been in the Prakash family for over fifty years. The garden is located in West Bengal, a state in the northern-most part of the famed tea-producing Darjeeling region in India, on the southern slopes of the Himalayan Mountains. As with the teas of the other 86 designated tea gardens in Darjeeling, the teas of Glenburn are grown at high elevations - in this case, about 3,200 feet. The 1600-acre estate is planted with the Camellia sinensis sinensis variety of the tea plant. The garden is managed using sustainable agricultural practices and it is a member of the Ethical Tea Partnership, a tea-specific fair trade organization. As such, the garden provides living and working conditions that exceed those required by Indian law. In addition, there is a hospital on the estate and several schools for the children of the garden workers.

Glenburn produces tea from late-February or March through November. The start of the production season always depends on the weather, so it is subject to change. Black, green, wulong and white teas are produced at select times. As with other high-elevation-grown Darjeeling teas, those of Glenburn tend to be lighter in body than most teas from other origins and they offer fresh, grassy or hay, slightly floral notes. Many of Glenburn's teas also have subtle notes of citrus and each tea brings forth its own unique complexity.

The Glenburn teas have been a cornerstone of the menu that I have carefully crafted over the years and they provide a wonderful example of the terroir that is Darjeeling. And I am happy to announce that a new tea of theirs has just been added to my offering - Glenburn Estate Roasted Darjeeling Green Tea!

The Glenburn Estate Roasted Darjeeling Green Tea is the second green tea that is being offered from this estate. This tea is harvested during the summer and is lightly roasted during production. Curly leaves yield a dark golden, smooth, light-bodied infusion that has a clean mouthfeel and fresh, nutty, slightly roasted notes. The roasting tones down the "greenness" of the other Glenburn green tea that has been part of the menu for many years.

My menu of Glenburn teas is robust and there are teas that will fit almost everyone's palate. My offering includes four black teas (and they are all very different!), two green teas, two wulong teas, and two white teas. For the complete list and descriptions of each tea, please click here.

If you decide to explore these fabulous teas, let me know what you think! :)
