A Message from the President

President Jim Morton

Dear Sea Devil Community,

As we close another remarkable academic year, I am filled with pride for the incredible accomplishments of our CFCC community. We celebrated a milestone on Friday, May 9, as 1,358 graduates completed at least one credential. This achievement reflects not only the hard work and dedication of our students but also the incredible support of our employees and community partners. Congratulations to the Class of 2025!

While we take a moment to celebrate, our work continues. I'm excited to share that summer enrollment is strong, a sign that students are seizing the opportunity to advance their education. Whether they’re completing general education courses, exploring new career pathways, or gaining valuable workforce certifications, our summer programs are more robust than ever.

We are actively preparing for the fall semester. Our commitment to student success includes new programs, upgraded facilities, and improved student support services. I urge you to stay engaged, support current and incoming students, and advocate for CFCC's mission. Together, we can change students' lives and enhance the community, one graduate, one class, and one success story at a time.

CFCC is launching a new BioWork Process Technician Program. This short-term, industry-recognized training is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in North Carolina's rapidly expanding biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and chemical manufacturing sectors.

CFCC Music Instructor and renowned saxophonist Benny Hill, along with his longtime collaborator Dr. Bradley Merritt, will open for none other than the "Empress of Soul", Gladys Knight, at the Wilson Center on Saturday, June 28.

Featured Sea Devils

Sinead Morrow joined CFCC's PECHS program to push herself academically, and she did just that. After completing her high school courses in just under two years, she graduated with both a high school diploma and an associate degree. This fall, Sinead is headed to NC State as a prestigious Goodnight Scholar to pursue pre-veterinary studies.

After a life-threatening battle with Epstein-Barr encephalitis, Alex Dahlberg emerged from recovery with a renewed sense of purpose. His journey led him to CFCC, where he discovered a passion for photography and storytelling. With the support of dedicated instructors, Alex turned a period of healing into a foundation for a promising career.

Michael King, a recent graduate, has been awarded the highly competitive Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. King is one of only 90 community college students nationwide to receive this prestigious scholarship, which provides up to $55,000 per year to support the completion of a bachelor's degree.

Al Savage focuses on training future lineworkers and ensuring they understand the scope of what's possible in the trade. He is a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 351 in South Jersey and brings over 40 years of experience to CFCC's Electrical Lineworker Training program.
