A Note From Our Founder
At Feeding Pets of the Homeless, our goal is to help as many companion animals as possible. When interviewing callers who are seeking help for their sick or injured pet, we have one policy: if you can prove your homelessness, we can help you.

Every day we call on new veterinary hospitals to join our network. We work to expand our network to provide care to pets belonging to a homeless person in as many communities as possible.

In 2020, we added over 100 hospitals to our network, bringing our total to 1,059. We have hospitals in 651 cities in all 50 States and a few in Canada.

These hospitals' commitment to treating all pets is evident. Our clients have reported the hospital staff are kindhearted and offer pets the best care. While most doctors would like to offer free services, they just cannot, or they will not be in business long. Last year, the hospitals discounted over $66,000 for treatments that went above our limit. This is proof of their compassion.

Feeding Pets of the Homeless sincerely thanks these wonderful doctors, vet techs, vet nurses and staff at the hospitals that serve our clients.

A homeless woman contacted Feeding Pets of the Homeless about a 10-year-old dog, Lobo, who needed vaccinations so they could move into a homeless shelter.

We approved vaccinations for Lobo, as well as a check for worms.
Little Girl

Feeding Pets of the Homeless got a call about a two-year-old pit bull, Little Girl, who had been shot in the paw by another homeless individual. She was in severe pain and bleeding.

Volunteer Spotlight
Cailin, an eighth-grader from Trumbull, CT, held a pet food drive in March for Feeding Pets of the Homeless. His donations totaled $1,269 worth of pet food.

"Throughout the country, there are many homeless people who have pets. Pets provide them with comfort and companionship during their challenging times, however, homeless people tend to struggle with providing their pets with proper veterinary care and food. You often hear about food drives and support for the homeless, but you probably never heard of helping their pets. I love animals and really want to do more to help them, especially these animals in need, and this volunteer project gave me the chance to do so."
Assisting our Veterans
Feeding Pets of the Homeless is now providing veterans in the HUD-VASH program with emergency care for their sick or injured pets.

The HUD-VASH program combines the HUD housing vouchers with the supportive services provided by the VA to help Veterans who are homeless, and their families find and sustain permanent housing. Through public housing authorities, HUD provides rental assistance vouchers for privately owned housing to veterans who are eligible for VA health care services and are experiencing homelessness.

Feeding Pets of the Homeless is proud to be partnering with HUD-VASH to provide help to the homeless as they work their way out of homelessness with their pet.
