Greetings Community Members β
I hope this newsletter finds each of you preparing for a wonderful holiday season. As we prepare to end 2022 and welcome 2023, there are several exciting updates that I would like to share with you.

METRO is coming to HN-Fallbrook
Starting this January, METRO will begin offering a shuttle service for students that attend LSC-Houston North Fallbrook. While the details are still being finalized, the initial plans are to have connections to bus lines 85 (Antoine), 86 (FM1960), and 96 (Veterans Memorial). The routes will tie into Shepherd Park & Ride and the Greenspoint Transit Center.
|
METRO, who currently provides service to four other Lone Star College locations, has continued to be a great partner that is responsive to the needs of our students and the larger Houston community.
This will be a pilot program so we are asking for your assistance in spreading the word and helping this initiative succeed. We believe it will have long-lasting benefits for the college and local community. Please see video above for more information.

LSC-Houston North Fall Graduates
At Lone Star College, we have commencements once a year in May. However, our students complete their requirements for graduation all year long. Therefore, to celebrate those students graduating this fall, we held a reception for the graduates and their families.
ο»ΏWe are very excited that more students are completing their academic journey with us. We are projecting a 20% increase over our Fall 2021 graduation numbers. Please see pictures from the event below.

Cookies and Cocoa Community Event
I want to express a special appreciation to all community members that came to our Cookies and Cocoa event. We were serenaded with carols by the Eisenhower High School student choir, there was a toy giveaway for all children that attended as well as a special set of packaged gifts for our student parents to give to their children.
ο»ΏSanta, Ms. Claus, and The Grinch also came out and took pictures with families. It was a joyous community event. See below for a short video along with pictures of the event.

Winter Hours
While the college will be closed for most operations, we will still be serving students.
ο»ΏFrom Thursday, December 22 through Wednesday, January 4, our Lone Star College-Houston North Victory location will be open to serve students.
We will return to regular hours at all locations on Thursday, January 5.

Super Saturday Registration Events
Our first 8-week term of the Spring 2023 semester begins January 17 (Day after the MLK holiday).
To help students register, we are having two Super Saturday registration events on January 7 and January 14 at all four of our locations.
Potential students will be able to speak with academic and financial aid advisors, admissions specialists, campus recruiters, and other campus personnel. Students will be able to take the TSIA college entrance tests, attend student orientation, and view our campus facilities.
These events are designed to provide access to all personnel and/or resources needed to help individuals enroll for the spring semester. Please come out. We do have some fun surprises planned during these times. See link attached for more information.

As we enter a holiday break, we, at Lone Star College-Houston North, want to express our sincerest appreciation for your continued support. We could not exist as a college without strong community partners. We wish you and your families well during this joyous holiday season.
Sincerely,
Quentin Wright, Ed.D.
