Take the Eclipse Over Cleveland 15 Minute Challenge!

Eclipse mania has overtaken Cleveland! The local news is now overflowing with daily eclipse stories. But some people are still unconvinced! Many Clevelanders are dismissive about the eclipse… “Ah, I’ve seen one of them before, no big deal.” They might have seen a PARTIAL solar eclipse back in third grade and considered it unimpressive, but they haven’t seen anything like this!

Legoheadz celebrates 5 years in OB

It's always fun to celebrate an anniversary--especially for a small business. On April 26, Legoheadz will be celebrating their 5 year anniversary! Legoheadz is the first dual licensed barbershop and tattoo parlor in the Cleveland area. The shop is located at 4764 Broadview Rd in Old Brooklyn. Marlon Brown, Legoheadz owner, was excited to share that they will be having an event on April 20th during their normal business hours to celebrate and thank the neighborhood for supporting Legoheadz over the last 5 years. He's looking forward to continuing to give back to the neighborhood, work on ways to grow the Legoheadz food pantry (ask him how you can help!), and be even more connected to the community in the next 5 years. Check out their Facebook page and stop by to say hello on April 20!

OB Better Streets Kick-Off Social

On April 11th, Old Brooklyn CDC and Bike Cleveland are jointly hosting the kickoff Old Brooklyn Better Streets Committee meeting at Sixth City Cycles (4274 Pearl Rd) from 6-8pm. This new committee will enable residents to advocate for safer streets in the neighborhood while working to implement grassroots road safety projects. If you’re interested in attending, please RSVP here!

Old Brooklyn TREEcap!

Spring is almost here! The Old Brooklyn Tree Stewards are gearing up for the season of tree watering and tree care at Goudreau, Estabrook, and Loew Park!

The Tree Stewards have been learning from tree professionals and using their skills and knowledge to assist other residents in caring for their own trees. They have also been promoting the Old Brooklyn Tree Planting Program while advocating for increased neighborhood tree canopy.

Coming Soon: An Exciting New Mural!

Irie Jamaican Kitchen has been serving up delicious Jamaican cuisine in Old Brooklyn since 2019. In February, this mural design was approved to be painted on the side of the restaurant at 4162 Pearl Road by artist Bob Peck as part of a series of murals through Destination Cleveland's "Murals Across the City" project. Artists were asked to ensure their proposed art embodied the principles of what makes Cleveland unique, including the values of connection, creativity and determination, while also showcasing The Land’s fun and unpretentious attitude. The design also had to incorporate one of Destination Cleveland brand phrases as the focal point of the work, with interpretation of the brand phrase incorporated in their own art style.

We are looking forward to seeing another pop of color added to the neighborhood! For more info about the artist, find them at @bob_peck_art
