When you walk into the Sanctuary this Sunday, you’re going to notice something a little different! Throughout the space, you’ll find decorations and signs designed to take you on a journey, both literally and figuratively.
This Sunday, we kick off our next sermon series and generosity campaign, “Fueled by Generosity.” Over the next four weeks, we will worship, explore Scripture, and reflect on how God’s generosity has shaped our lives—and how that generosity becomes the fuel that drives our actions out in the world.
| | |
As we begin this journey, I want to ask you a simple question: What fuels you?
Is it being the hands and feet of Christ through mission and service? Is it the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life? Perhaps it’s gathering for worship on Sunday mornings, lifting your voice in song, or growing deeper in faith through one of our Sunday School classes. Or maybe it’s something entirely different!
Whatever it may be, I want to encourage you to spend some time thinking about what fuels your faith. How does the church fuel you? How do you, in turn, fuel the faith of others? And perhaps most importantly, how can that fuel inspire you to live more generously in the days ahead?
Because generosity isn't simply about what we give. It's about what God is doing through us. It's about taking the blessings we've received and putting them into motion, allowing God's love to reach beyond the walls of our church and into the world around us.
So, as we begin this journey together, I invite you to consider not only what fuels your faith, but where God might be calling you to go next.
After all, a vehicle can have a full tank of gas, but it doesn't make much of a difference if it never leaves the driveway!
I'll see you Sunday as we begin our journey of being Fueled by Generosity!

COFFEE WITH PASTOR NICK
On Wednesdays, from 8:00–10:00 AM, you’ll find Pastor Nick at Java House grabbing a cup of coffee, but more importantly, hoping people will stop in and visit. You are invited to join Pastor Nick for a cup of coffee and a time to talk about church, life, family, faith, sports, the weather—or absolutely nothing important at all.

ELECTION DAY OUTREACH
With Election Day approaching, we have another opportunity to serve. Our local poll workers put in incredibly long days. Their day begins around 6:00 in the morning and often doesn’t end until well after 8:00 at night. There are few breaks and not many opportunities to simply take a breath and relax. And in a time when elections can bring heightened emotions and anxiety, poll workers are often the ones who encounter that stress firsthand. So, as a simple sign of appreciation for the time and energy they give to our community, we will be delivering sweets and treats to our local polling locations, along with cards of encouragement and gratitude.
Would you like to be part of it? We will certainly need your help! Election Day is Nov 3. Please sign up using the link below with opportunities to donate treats, write cards, and help us share a little kindness with those serving our community that day. It’s one more simple way we can be generous, love our neighbors, and share the love of God with South Lyon.

OCTOBER MISSION OF THE MONTH
Active Faith Community Services began in 1987 when a group of local churches came together with a shared mission: to help local families struggling to meet basic needs such as food and clothing.
What began as a small, grassroots effort has grown over the years into a comprehensive community resource serving individuals and families throughout the South Lyon Community School District. While food and clothing remain at the heart of our work, Active Faith also provides case management and other resources designed to offer temporary relief during difficult times while helping families regain stability and move forward.
For nearly 40 years, Active Faith has been a place where neighbors help neighbors—providing not only practical assistance, but also compassion, dignity, and hope when it is needed most.
