ThAn alert from the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom US

One Year Down. Three to Go. We Are Ready.

Dear WILPF US members,

Today marks one year since the inauguration of our current President. In that short time, we have witnessed an alarming acceleration of harm—assaults on our democracy, rollbacks of human and constitutional rights, erosion of international credibility, and deliberate efforts to turn neighbors against one another. It is frightening. And it is clarifying. Moments like this tell us exactly who we must be. WILPF US women are meeting this moment.

Across the country, members are resisting these attacks in communities – organizing locally while unifying nationally with renewed purpose. Because of the re-envisioning work we undertook together in 2025, we head into 2026 more prepared, more coordinated, and more determined than we have been in years. We are clearer about our values, stronger in our relationships, and remain bold in our willingness to say what others are afraid to say.

Peace is grid

This Administration is exerting outsized power and influence – through repression at home, militarism abroad, and policies that endanger people and the planet. WILPF’s response is to organize for peace with clarity, solidarity, and courage. Last year, we launched the Peace is / Peace is Not campaign to challenge a dangerous, militarized definition of peace. You asked WILPF to sharpen it—to make it responsive to current realities. WILPF has done exactly that.

WILPF has created updated campaign statements and graphics you can use right now as you mobilize in your communities—on ICE, environmental destruction, Gaza, Venezuela, and more. These tools are meant to be in the streets, at tabling events, in community conversations, and across social media. They are designed to help WILPF members speak with a unified voice while organizing where we live. Visit the campaign webpage and download posters and social media graphics that you can use and share widely.

Mobilization requires resources. As we close out our end-of-year fundraising appeal from last year, we are asking for your help to get us across the finish line – so we can scale up this work together in the year ahead. If you are able, please consider making a donation today. If your main contribution is your dues, an additional gift—of any size—makes a real difference, especially in times like these.

And mobilize with us! If you’re new to WILPF, join us as a member. If you’ve been a member for a while and are looking for deeper ways to engage, this is the year to step in. Whether that means organizing locally, joining national campaigns, bringing in new members, or lending your skills and voice – there is a place for you. We will continue to resist, to organize, and to build alternatives grounded in feminist peace, justice, and care.

One year down. Three to go. The road ahead will not be easy—but we are not starting from scratch. We are starting from strength, from history, and from each other. WILPF women have faced moments like this before. We know the arc is long. And we know that when we stay organized and united, we change history. Thank you for all that you do—for your courage, your care, and your commitment to peace.

In solidarity and sisterhood,

Your WILPF US Development Team
