Dear Parents and Guardians,
We have seen an increasing number of students at school with viral and bacterial illnesses. Often, children will come to school sick because parents are unfamiliar with our illness policy, and students are afraid of falling behind in their schoolwork. In addition, we have several students who are immunocompromised and we would like to protect them as best we can.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind you of our illness policy. Anyone with a fever of 100° F will be sent home and should remain at home until at least 24 hours after they are free of fever without the use of medications. This will help the spread of contagious illnesses in the school.
Other signs that your child may be too sick to come to school include: vomiting, diarrhea, excessive coughing, headache, earache, throat pain or drainage from the eyes.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at nurse@columbusacademy.org or by simply replying to this message.
Thank you for your partnership as we look forward to spring!
Sincerely,
Teresa Bowman RN, LSN
Beckie Hoagland RN, LSN
Janet Fireman RN, LSN
